Yes you can turn the sound off. The answer lies within. (wise words for the day)

The option works with the new software upgrade.

When are the software upgrades available..?

Posted by: egruber

Assuming your phone is more than a few weeks old, there is one out now. I got it Sat at the Verizon store. There's another thread on this.

yo egruber, i supposedbly just got a software upgrade and not anywhere on the phone says you can shut the sound off. Did the upgrade cost you anything? Where is the option to shut the sound off... i called up the 611 and they had no idea it did that..

same here, i have upgraded the software, but still, i am not able to turn off the shutter sound.

Click the OK Button to enter the Camera Mode.
Select '1' Take Pix and the camera will be activated.
Click the left button for 'Menu'.
Select '4' Shutter Sound.
Select 'Off'

This works on mine. But you have to have the latest software, which is T095VEDM03_5.189

Don't be surprised that 611 doesn't know much. They change phones too often to keep up. Even the people at Audiovox aren't on top of their own products.

did you have to go to the actual verizon wireless carrier store? or online?

please explain what you did to get that latest software upgrade.

It's really very simple. I phoned a local Verizon store (you need to pick one that has a Tech Support Dept - which most non-resellers do) and told them that I heard there was an upgrade for my phone. They checked, said yes, and told me to bring it in. I dropped it off and picked it up an hour later. They 'flash' the phone with the new software.

My suggestion is to call your store and have them verify the software version with the one I posted above. There really should be no difficulty since I confirmed the upgrade with Verizon Customer Support before I called them.

ok, thanks! thats JUST what i needed!

I just had my software upgraded.. took an hour at my local store.
When I got the phone back, the subscreen still alternated between the time and the verizon wireless banner and the voicemail is still hardcoded. I can't see any appreciable difference whatsoever as a result of this 'upgrade'. I asked the guy that since the upgrade didn't address my 2 main complaints, what did it fix.. "oh, it just makes the phone work better" better than what?? certainly not better than the cdm-9500 that I upgraded(?) from.

There is another post on this board called 8900 firmware upgrade where I detailed what was fixed (based on my own discovery). The two items you are looking for were not changed.

I don't think anyone at Verizon, or Audiovox can give you a list of fixes. You just have to poke around.
