new- need info on phone capability lgvx4600

This is a total Newbie question - so I apologize in advance (I've been stuck with my archaic Nokia GAIT phone for like 2 years). I'm not interested in mp3 ringtones, but I would like to simply be able to upload midi clips from my PC to my lg vx4600 so that I don't have to use "Get it Now" whenever I want a ringtone. My question is what all besides a USB cable/drivers do I need in order to do that? Do I have still need some sort of program like BitPim? Help would be appreciated!
