(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I started getting this error recently when plugging in my nokia 6800.

It says "Not Charging"

I've tryed using different chargers and batterys, still same error.
Anyone know whats going on with this?
The phone wasn't dropped or anything.
I also tryed resetting to factory already aswell.

It could be that the charging connector on the phone is defective. I would call Nokia Tech Support and find out what your options are to get this fixed. It sounds like the problem is with the charging jack itself since you mentioned the problem is not with the charger or the battery.

its the charger i usedto have this problem before but when i tried changing the charger... it works!

i had this problem with my nokia 7210. i changed to one of the sleeker "travel charger" the ones that support 120V-220V and it solved my problem.

dont just try another charger, try another model of charger like a car one or a desktop one it should tell you where the problem is

my charger was stupid when i had my 6230, you had to turn the plug that connects to the bottom of the phone in a certian place in order for it to work lol

That's a sign of a loose connection. This tends to happen with older chargers when the connectors are loose or bent.

you got a bad charging ic, i think you over charged your phone. I think its Hardware problem.

Posted by: TriBand81

That's not possible as the phone monitors the charge level and shuts off the charge cycle once the battery cells are completely full.

i had that problem with a motorola T130 i had. that thing was a pos tho. i would definately contact customer support. it would be your best bet.

i get that problem sometimes when i charge my 6230 in the car. its random and usually by moving the charger around or unplugging it from the cars 12v socket usually fixes it.

i have this very same problem w/ my 6230 in my car charger...even if the battery is low it would not charge

i had a problem with the adaptor, from old connector to new smaller connector. the adaptor must be faulty as it works fine on the normal charger

I think you might have to send it in to get fixed.

Even I have the same problem with Nokia 6230. One fine day suddenly it gave this error " not charging - stop"

Tried different battery, charger still the same problem.

Presently I charge my battery with nokia 1110 & shift it to 6230.

Nokia says to get it repaired at their service center. Seems it is a manufacturing defect and they should repair it free of charge as many people are facing the same problem with this model.

I have seen this "charging error" message on a Nokia 6265i before. All I know is that I charged the battery charged using a spare battery charger but for whatever reason, the phone said it only had one bar of battery charge left even after charging it overnight. After this would happen, the phone would give the charging error message if I plugged the main charger into the phone. The only way to get it to recharge the battery would be to remove the charging plug from the phone and reinsert it. It would usualy charge for a few minutes and come up with the error message again and I would have to keep repeating this process (sometimes 10 to 20 times) but it would eventually charge the battery properly. I have seen this on a couple of 6265i's and BL-6C's but after the battery charges again properly, everything is fine.

I've had the sam problem with my 8800, it'd say "not charging" 7 out of 10 tries, I thought it was defective but did not have time for repairs. I went back to my contry for a trip and to my surprise the problem was solved using 220V

Now I use the sirocco desk charger to charge my 8800 and have no problems at all, and yes it fits

So, it could just be the voltage, have no idea why it happens though..In my case it was dfinately the voltage
