Giving up P900...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Giving it up - enough.

a - It runs at least 3 processes on my PC unnecessarily

b - I do not have or want Outlook (I hate it!) or Outlook Express, so I cannot synch.

c - Chinese language bugs.

d - Other bugs.

e - Bad handwriting recognition.

Back to T68i and a Palmpilot. Thanks Sony Ericsson, but no thanks.

Anyone else done the same?

Did just the opposite and could not be happier. It is a personal preference matter. To me, using one device more than makes up for any deficiencies.

I disagree with all of your points but, then again, like I said, most of it is subjective...

OK - but if you disagree, tell me more. Maybe I am missing things.

- Chinese pops up. I do not speak or read Chinese. Can I get rid of that?

- I will not use Outlook. Is there an alternative?

- Are there better instructions for the writing? (I have used Palm and Pocket PC for many years so I have experience).

Let me know - happy to hear where I am wrong!

you can change the display to english if your fone is p908 if im not wrong, because p908 was offered in the asian market and it offers 2 languages and previously installed on the phone.
i dont use outlook or anything, may be im just a gr10 student so i dont need much of those things but yet, i hate the outlook work just like you do, p900 has been buggin my life because the phone is perfect to me, therefore i want my comp to be perfect and my room to be perfect and clean, but ×××× it, im not doing anything close to perfect.

bad hand writting...i have a bad hand writting but it still reads my writing on p900, may be its easier if you take some practice, it gets easier, just like the letter "t".

there might be a some stuff u are missin out on the bad hand writtin recognition on the phone because you may not know the way to do it properly (or may be you know) so i wont say anything about that...

anyway p900 is a gd phone to me, i suggest you really make up your mind...! or else you might regret because p900 is a pretty expensive phone for me as i am only a student.

what did mwillems mentioned about the bad hand recognition is true for writing english on chinese version P900 or P908 but no problem with writing chinese character (more complicated than alphabet), dont know why?

Posted by: ashVID

Sounds like you have a Chinese version of the phone... Mine was made in France and I have ZERO handwriting issues, no chinese pop-ups and there are MANY options for syncing and managing contacts. I use my desktop to control my P900 and do everything that way. I suggest you visit

http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=3

before you give up your phone. There is much more info there. Sounds to me like you are not really getting the full use out of your P900...

I sync mine with Lotus Notes and have no issues. I use it at work and Outlook 2003 at home.....

I think you should send it in and get upgraded to the regular P900 software. I believe any service area can take care of this and then you will not have any issues with the Chinese info as it will be gone. I think??

Regards,
Frank

no issues.. hand rec is fine... is there something in particular that you don't like about it? like how you do "t's" or something.
(do you have the manual?

i never had issues.

can't help you with the outlook... i'm fine with it ..contacts and email and calander.. but yes lotus notes works well i think.

3 processes on pc? well my pc doesn't give me any issues... (P4)

it all depends on what your looking for or need? I don't know how most of you people use pdas... but this one covers all my basic...

calender, email, contacts.

Use a Mac. The bundled software is better than what MS offers.

iSync is fully compatible with everything the P9xx can do and it is free. The Mail, iCal and Address Book are virus free.
