Guys,

I just picked up a KDDI au's A5505SA phone, made by Sanyo, which roams onto Verizon in the US. I read the manuel and all the specs in English, and this phone should not have BT support.

However if I go to "Basic Settings" -> "User Support" -> "Transmission" -> "Data Transfer", there is a menu entry called "Bluetooth Setup". Under which there are two menu entries "1. Change Passkey" and "2. ChangeDeviceName".

If I try to click on either entry, the phone will report back "cannot connect".

Can anyone who lives in Japan tell me what are these Bluetooth functions? Thanks!

P.S. Other than the size, I love this phone so far!

There's a short blurb about bluetooth on page 188 of the JP lang manual. I think there is/was supposed to be a bluetooth accessory for this phone, but its not on AU's or Sanyo's website.

Thanks I just downloaded the japanese manual saw that too. No idea what it is all about. Will try to ask some Japanese friend if I have a chance.

Are you gonna activate au's A5505SA on verizon service by any chance or just using it as a international roaming?

i was also wondering, is it possible to activate this phone on verizon 800mhz since it is a "global passport" intl romaing enabled model? thanks...
