hi~

i'm planning to get a Siemens SX1, i know it can play mp3, but wonder can it uses mp3 as ringtone??

No, it can't use mp3s for ringtones. You can use wav files made from your mp3s. That's what I do and they sound okay.

but wonder is there a limit for the size of the wav file to upload to the phone??

coz i used to have a Sharp GX32, i only can upload like 5sec of wav as a ringtone.

I use 30 second wav files. I make them into 11kHz 16 bit mono. SX1 plays them fine and they sound alright on the speaker. Brass Monkey is my best to date...

since it runs on a symbian OS, surely u can download a program like on a nokia series 60 fone that lets you set mp3's as a ringtone?

MP3s are very CPU intense. The phone would have difficulty handling the call and playing the ringer at the same time.

i know they are, im sittin here witha V600 which elts you have an mp3 as a ringtone but it takes about 2/3 seconds after opening the flip for it to answer the call,

but then u can get one for the nokia,forgot its name, 7250 i think, the slidin nokia that was the first camera fone with bluetooth that lets you have mp3 as a ringtone, so if that cna do it surely the siemens can,

im afraid not as i dont own either a n7250 or a SX1 though i will hvae an SX1 in a few days so i'll ask my mat Alex who has the program on his 7250 to pass it onto me and then i'll tell you what it is.
