Problem messaging (what is this green icon)

As much as I've searched (manual and online), I can't seem to find out what this green icon next to my sent messages in the outbox is. It's like the normal yellow icon with the arrow in the top right, except it's a green shade.
I also get the feeling that when this icon shows up the recipient doesn't recieve the message. I can't seem to find out what causes it though.
I'm using an Audiovox 8900, with Verizon Wireless as my provider. If software/hardware versions are needed, I'll provide.

Anyone even seen this?
It seems that it may have something to do with the signal reception in the area (or so I think). I've tried resending messages when it shows as the green icon, but the new messages get the green icon as well.
Another thought was maybe it's due to the recipients carrier, since I don't think this has happened when I message another person with Verizon.

I think I figured it out. Looks like the green icons and lack of recipient getting the message only occurs when the message is over one page long (over 160 chars). Odd, I didn't think there was a limit, and even if there was you'd think the phone would recieve some sort of error message, instead of saying it was successfully sent but having a different icon.
