Hey all, Im new to these forums. I currently have a Siemens A60 on Vodaphone, In the UK. Yeah its not the best of phones I bought it not so long ago and I’ve been happy with it but I’ve battered it about a bit and its looking a bit rough but it does the job for me (texting and talking). I’m happy with vodaphone at the moment, the coverage where I am is good that’s the main reason I bought the Siemens phone in the first place.
They were selling a pay as you go phone in three. A NEC 313e if i'm correct. It’s not the best of phones but it has video, camera, color screen etc. I was thinking of getting one using the money I had to get with it etc and then getting it unlocked and put my vodaphone sim card in. First of all is this Legal? And would this work ok (I’m not bothered about the video calling) just will the messaging and calling work etc. I don’t fancy going over to three at the moment as my network provider because you have to top up the credit every 30 days. If anyone could shed any light on the matter . . . Thanks in Advance.
Sawyer
P.S Can anyone tell me anything about the 313e, Like ive seen it on a few sites that say it has GPS ? Do they mean GPRS ?

Sure it's legal to unlock phones. Once you unlock it, you should have no problem using it with your Voda SIM.
It has GPRS and GPS, which are different. GPS stands for "Global Positioning System". GPS is a satellite navigation system used to determine ground position and velocity (location, speed, and direction).
EDIT: GPS on mobile phones doesn't use satellite systems, just the mobile phones's network........sorry for the confusion. "Real" GPS does use satellites. The purpose of GPS for mobile phones, is for emergency e911. Unfortunately if your phone is stolen, your provider will probably refuse to track it for you using GPS. At least that's how it is here in the U.S.
