hello, i've been looking for a street bike and the only good model i've seen is the kawasaki ninjas. Well, what im looking for is a cheap one for under 1000 dollars and i've tried e-bay but each motorcycle has at least 15 bids on them and.. people are gonna drive it hard.

Anyways, what im tryin to say is that does anyone know how i could find a cheap street bike that runs for under 1k? I've tried the classifieds but the oldest model in there is a 96 and motorcycles dont depreciate as much as cars do.

thanks whether u can help me or not

If you're looking for the street bikes that i think you're looking for, you're gonna need to spend atleast 5k. Unless you want some old one or a newer one with massive kms on it.

A 250 is useless.

no its not, its tyte as hell. The ninja is pretty fast even tho its only got like 35 hp, it goes 0-60 in 6 seconds. Im not tryin to kill myself neither

have never rode a bike, but i always assumed anything under 600cc wasn't worth it.

IDK a whole lot about bikes, but I do know I wouldnt pay $10 for a new Ninja. Ive been told that they are the worst bikes on the road.

I also know that 13,000 miles on a bike is a helluvalottta miles.

Summer is the wrong time to buy a bike. You can get one for about half as much in the winter.

ya, every bike on e-bay has at least 12 bids before the auction ends

k. Well first of all a Kawi 250r is the BEST bike for you to get. The reason being because it is sporty and it DOES handle better than other 250 small engine bike (like the rebel for example)

They still hit around 110mph and can do 0-60 very fast so its not as if you will be putting around on it either.

If you are a first time rider than dont get larger than 250. This is for two reasons. The first is even a 500 might be to big for you to get comfortable riding. The second is that the 250 is in a different price bracket for insurance, so it will cost you half of what a 500 would on insurance, and its all you need for now.

Now for the price you are looking at you wont find TOO MUCH. Keep in mind the MSRP is $2999US. Be ready to spend anywhere from 1500-2000 USD on a used one and i dont recommend anyt hing before 1999.

The reason why i say this is because even though the bike really has changed to much in ~13 years i think, anything before 1999 has been around TOO long to be in optimum condition.

The last thing you want is mechanical problems.

ON THE FLIP SIDE......

If you are planning on JUST having this bike to learn how to ride on and maybe have for a summer than the cheapest you can find (that is in good condition) will suffice since you wont be putting on too many miles, and you will probably be able to sell it for close to what you paid for NEXT season, and get yourself a better bike for summer '05 PLUS already know how to ride it ANDDDD have an insurance record with a bike which will lower your rates when you do upgrade to the 500..

Think of what you want out of it, and then decide, i think would be the best way.

That is more of what im trying to do. I just wanna play around with it for a couple of months then sell it either for a bigger bike or for a car.
Even if its not in optimum condition, i can do some work on it and restore it.

in that case as long as that 93 runs and is in good condition, its not a bad deal. JUST DONT put any money into it. If something does need reparing in like a month or so just try to sell it off and sure you'll lose a bit but you will lose more in repair costs.

Basically make sure its safe. Thats the main thing.

yea, i was thinking about doing some light maintenance stuff. There are websites for helping people with ninjas such as

http://ninja250.net and http://ninja250.info

the thing is, gear is going to cost alot. About $200 or so, at least thats what i've heard

Posted by: GarageBoy

Master the 250 and you'll know exactly what you're doing in a 600

Posted by: eibowow3650

yeea.. i dunno if i want a bigger bike after the 250. I've heard of people that put down a zx6 for a 250 because they thought it was funner

I know cars can get 100K easily... can bikes do the same? Or the bike's engine is not capable?
