How exactly does it work? i need to suspend my bell account for a while....can i ride out the contract like this if i have to? does it affect my credit in any way? (my credit is alreayd pretty bad i assume because i missed paying bills a few times due to bank problems so my cell got cut like 3 times)

thnx for any info

If there was no money oweing you could go on seasonal disconnect, which is $7/mth. But usually they wont do that if you owe a bunch of money, worth a try though, tell them you are going out of the country and you will make payments every few weeks. I have a friend who they let it slide with because he was "going out of the country".

Exactly what I did is this. I owed about $300 to Bell, luckily they never cut me off since I was always making some sort of payments. I sent Bell a payment of $150 and change and then asked if I could put my phone on seasonal disconnect. They transfered me to the Accounts department who very nicely made an arraingment to allow me to pay $35 every week and make another payment of the balance within the next month to bring the account back to $0. Once the agreement was made he called into CS who then put my phone on seasonal disconnect for the $7/mo.

I have to say, Bell is very accomodating when it comes to payment arraingements and making concessions to those who might fall into some financial trouble. They seem have a good grasp on reality and will try to help out the best they can.

Hope everything works out for you.

susp is offered for up to 3 months normally, unless theres a special circumstance, I believe now the monthly charge has moved to $10/month for suspension.

Only if you change their Price Plan after May 24th.

what do you get for the $10? they just keep the number unassigned for you or they allow you minutes if you need anything like that?

you get to keep your account...the line is not useable when it is on suspension.

Just to note as well that with suspension you still can call 911 or 611. As well your account does remain active, the number still being reserved to your name, and your at a lower monthly cost. Note as well that the cost of suspension depends on what rate plan you are currently on. For example if you are on the same plan from before Bell Mobility's conversion to their new billing system you pay aprox 7.50 (may be off by a penny as the rate plans are now discounted by a percentage). If you have changed your plan or activated a new account after the conversion period then the cost to you will be aprox 10$. In both instances though you will still be charge 0.25$ for 911 services.
