How do you cut the volume of an mp3 file from 12 db to 6 db?

I recently found out how to put mp3 files in my phone VX 4400. but the sound is cranking up. I wanna make it sound fine.
Please someone help me.
Thank you

how did you get mp3's to the phone. i've tried this with many different methods, most of which end up with me getting no sound at all.

try using a program called PsmPlay5.0 for adjusting volumes. very simple to use.

thanks in advance... hopefully your method will work for me. i've got bitpim .7 and a few converter programs.

Hey.
This is how you put mp3 files as ringtones on VX 4400.

1) cut your mp3 file to 30 seconds or less. good to be less or equal to 60K

2) use the convertor program found in here http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm .

3) in the program, change the channel to mono, frequency to 16000 Hz, and bit rate to 16k. and save it as mp3(Lame)

4) change the extension from .mp3 to .mid

How to change the extension.
1) open up a folder, and click on tools tab.

2) choose folder option

3) click on view tab

4) uncheck the box for hide extension for known type files.

that's I have to say about it.
The sound is not that great but not that bad.
you can put down the volume a lil bit to make it better.
