So what are the differences if any between the verizon slider and the virgin mobile one?

also does the slider support voice ring tones, if not what verizon phones do?

Not sure about this, but I think its about $150 on Virgin, and $50 on Verizon with a 2 year plan

If your question is about the hardware, the two have appeared to me to be the same. I have flashed my VM slider with the Verizon firmware and it seems to work identically to the Verizon version I've played with in stores.

Having said all that, here are some software differences. These assume the VM version was purchased and hooked up to Verizon but NOT flashed with the Verizon firmware.

VM version gives you a few games, has the icons for refilling pay-as-you-go minutes. Uploaded wallpapers are assigned through the Doodler tool. Without using the PST software, you will probably not be able to use the phone on extended network but it will work on Verizon-native areas outside of your home SID. (with PST and a data cable you can turn off the "home-only" default option on the VM Slider and this should get you working on extended network)

Verizon version has no games but has some screen savers people like. Still has Doodler tool but wallpapers are assigned through a Media Gallery menu item.

Both have different sets of ringers, open/close sounds, and wallpaper graphics. Both have slightly different icons and graphics for voice mail waiting, incomming call, etc.

If you flash your VM slider to Verizon, you will lose the games BUT gain the enhanced roaming indicator, and everything else noted above for the VM slider turns into everything noted above for the Verizon slider.

I've never used voice ring tones and am not quite sure what they are. If you mean recording your voice and using it as a rington, you can make a recording on a PC, convert it to MP3, and upload it to the phone and use it as a ringer.
