hey im in jamaica right i have the nokia 3300 but the on e i have is the 850 version right and guess what the network that its on is like relly messed up no good service i already unlocked it and but i wont pick up the 900mhz network which i reall wanna get it on so bad so i AM wondering if there is somthing that i could to get it to work on the 900 mhz freguency or 1800mhz is there away to flash with nokia 3300 900 mhz version or is it that the keys would be messd up sincde the design on both phones are way differnt help me please thanka a lot

ok im not the best man to ask about this but i can say this. the phone is compatable with dual band. and where ever your provider is and what band they use, thats the band you will get. even if you flash the phone, it wont make a difference, your still with the same provider in the same towers.

yea if your provider uses the 900mhz band then u should sell that 3300 and buy the euro spec 3300, as that version uses 900mhz/1800mhz band which should work wit your provider

so i guess im a stuck on the 850mhz band then hey you know anything about getting an instant messenger installed on my friend has one installed on meaning that i comes up as number 14 i think when your going through the menus help please

I have had my 3300 for about 1 year, and i have over 140 games and 50 apps for the phone, and i have not seen an instant messanger for this phone, or any series 40 for that matter.

I think (but I may be wrong), that there is a firmware with AIM built-in...at least according to Cingular. Because they say that the phone has AIM and I can't find it on mine...

I don't know....ugh..

yeah those cingular ×××'s told me that when i got my plan over 1 year ago, but as soon as i got home and read the manuel and played with the phone, i realized that was bullish. then i got into these forums and was told many times that it was b/s. sorry guys.

i just got my 3300 and it has aim on it. its like he said, menu number 14 is IM and it has aim and ICQ on it. i ordered mine from nokia but it is a cingular spec 3300. i dont know when they started putting it on there but mine does have it.

menu 14 is not availbile to me. i got the 3300 when it first came out. so i guess they beefed it up a little. that sucks for me. i wonder if i could d/l it and install it? i'd rather not flash the phone, but if i have to then ill just not use aim.

I had a 3300 as my phone for a week or so. I was able to get on AIM but it was through mMode which is ATT's wap.

It did not have a Menu for IM. My new 6200 has a seperate menu for it, its Menu 15 for me. It lets me set my own or has AIM and ICQ pre programed. I have used both and they both work great.

Maybe there is a newer firmware with it installed....if so and you want it, you will have to reflash the phone. I dunno if this helps, but my firmware for my 6200 is

ATT mMode has the Mail and messenger feature. This feature is a menu, kinda like Call Log, Settings etc etc.

The difference is that the AIM/ICQ conversation is shown as its typed, you dont have to retrieve new messages like you do when you use it threw mMode.

oh...thats cool. with cingulars 3300 i have email toobut not aim or icq. but i do have irc on my 9290 which is cool.
