If you use a Treo 600 on Tmobile do you have to have a seperate internet plan or if i put my existing sim in it will it allow web browsing without additional cost like I can on my motorola and samsung phones? (wap?)

thanks,
ed

Yeah you can browse the web for free just like any other phone. Just remember to switch the settings in preferences from T-Mobile Internet to T-Zones.

would you also be able to pull down pop email from my internet email account?

Posted by: mognet

yeah, the e-mail ports are open too. Both send and recieve.

Is it only the treo that has this free wap ability? I am looking for a device where I can do this for free AIM majorly, and then internet, email. Are the blackberries or pocket pc phones able to do this without internet plans? I am sure the sidekick cant, but I heard the service sucks.

Nope every phone that is capable will have the free wap. The sidekick uses a proxy server so that can't be free. Pocket PC should be ok but I don't know about the blackberries though.

2 questions:
Is it also free on prepaid T-mobile?
Is it free if a T-mobile user is roaming e.g. in Canada?

So is that a yes or a no??

It sounds like a prepaid will get you free wap (just like the month to month). I'm not sure, but it sounds like you also get free t-zones with prepaid and you can get into many internet sites through other portal sites eg:
http://tagtag.com/tzones2

I have not tried this because I'm in Canada now (on rogers) for a while but will try it out in NYC in a month or 2 (if it's still available).

Why wouldn't the built in browser(blazer)work for regular sites..I have a nokia 6600 with webviewer installed and it's on prepaid, and it's works great,I'm able to go to just about every site..I think the treo would be even better if I'm able to use it for internet..I want to be sure before I spend my $$$$..I wish someone could answer my???

So,
Anyone know if there is a work around for the MMS stuff?
I'd like to use my unlimited VPN plan to send and receive pictures etc.

I don't want to have to spend .25c evey time I want to email a photo from the phone to someone.

Of course I posted this without trying it on my POP3 account which works perfectly on receive.
(time ticks by......)
AND it works on the sending. Nice attachment feature...

Nevermind.

Thanks

This old Treo rocks...

woah woah woah, so what you are telling me is this:

- i can sign up for TMo prepaid on the cheapest plan. i can then take the SIM card and put it in my Treo 600 and use it as a data only device. i can then just make the bare minimum prepaid purchases in the set time to keep my account active

- i can take my current TMo SIM card and put it back in my E715 and use that as my phone.

that can not be true because i would be paying less for the data plan on a prepaid then adding the treo internet plan (not that i did).

I am not BS ing you..It works..I was very surprised myself...Get a pre-pay sim quick and refill with at least 25.00 by the end of the month and you are good for one year...
There is a current promo now that if you do a refill by end of the month you dont have to do another for 1 whole year...I am surfing wth 2 different browsers on my treo..Blazer(built in to the treo)and webviewer..I would recommend webviewer,it is very fast.
Have fun

well shiet than. $25 and thats it. obviously i can buy a phone and sell it or keep it as a back up, but i'll probably have to do this then. although i would rather not have to carry two different devices but this is very interesting
