I have a few questions about this telephone that I would appreciate it if someone could answer:

1.- Does anyone in this forum own the Siemens SX1 telephone?
2.-What are your impressions, pros and cons?
3.- Is the battery life still bad?
4.- Can one synchronize with Outlook and have the street addresses show on the telephone?
5.- What version of Symbian does it run?
6.- Can the version of Series 60 be upgraded?

I have posed some of the above questions to Siemens, but I have not gotten a reply.

1. I do.

2. Do a forum search, you'll find my thoughts as well as others' about the phone.

3. I've had phones with better battery life. It depends on your network conditions.

4. Yes.

5. 6

6. Only via a Siemens firmware upgrade, and that may or may not upgrade the version of Series60 (probably not).

Thank you for your information. Between your post and that of another member in the series 60 forum, I have a pretty good idea about this telephone.

I am not sure that I understand what you mean by "network conditions", as it regards to battery life. Under what network conditions would the battery life be adversely affected?

Unfortunately, I did a search of this site under your name and it only came back with half a dozen threads, none related to your views on the SX1. It is also interesting that before I posted my thread, I did a search using SX1 as the topic and found almost nothing.

In any event, I will try searching again.

In your network search, double check the date range to search. You may have looked only in the last 30 days.

As far as network conditions go, if you live or spend a lot of time in low signal areas, it forces the phone to use more transmitting power to communicate with the tower. This will result in shorter battery life.

You are correct, I did a new search and found tens of threads from you. I read some of the reviews in one of the threads and will continue to read as time permits.

Thank you.

Happy to help.

in your opinion which has longer battery life? the SX-1 or the CX-65. Heard that battery life of both cellphones last only 2 days on SMS alone. No photos taken etc. which is the better phone overall?

The SX1 is a Symbian/Series60 device. That says most of it right there. It also has a memory card slot, built in mp3 player, FM radio, and you can install almost any Series60 application. The SX1 also has Blueooth.

The only real drawback is the keypad, and even then, it's only awkward when you only have one hand available.
