Has anyone taken their s55 apart to change the housing? I'm having a heck of a time getting the IR window off the original housing and the same goes for the contacts for the buttons on both sides of the phone.

Can anyone help me with this? I'm scare of breaking something!

Thanks,

J.P.

Taking the housing off the s55 is remarkably easy. When you take out the four screws behind the battery (you will need a Torx 5 to do it) you will then lift the front half of the housing up towards the top of the phone. This will leave you with the back half and all the guts of the phone. To each side of the guts there are little pegs. Gently pull the pegs away from the guts and the whole IC in the middle will now be able to pop free. For your info though the IR window is actually attached to the transmitter which is sauldered to the guts.

(Sorry I use the turm guts to mean the IC that makes up the phone.)

Funny,

I'm able to empty the whole phone out (guts and all). But the IR window on my phone is stuck to the plastic case. There are two other parts I'm still having trouble with: side button contacts. The buttons come out easy enough but the conacts are a real pain.
