Leaving the LCD light on when closing the phone?

I like to check the time when I close my phone but the light isnt on, and I check it with the light mostly at night. I was wondering is there a way to do this? When you close your phone the light on lcd doesnt stay on.

pressing either of the side buttons will turn it on for a few seconds.
