Finally, my tutorial is done and it's up on my website. It's only a first version which means in the upcoming versions I'll even add screenshots and soon I'll try to make 7650/3650 (WAP 1.2.1) tutorial. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, POST THEM IN THIS THREAD OR I WILL NOT ANSWER THEM THRU ANY OTHER MEDIUM. Chances are some other fellow hofo member can answer your question(s)! Well, here's the guide:

Sure you don't need to do all the scripting and such however. There have been a few threads on the subject that are old I'm sure that can be dug up, one such thread was about 802.11b IIRC.

You have to do Dial-up networking in your phone's Bluetooth folder- just start that with your phone in bluetooth range and make sure it dials *99#, and the username and password are of your PHONE's internet (CSD/GPRS) profile.

i don't understand the thing with cmd.exe =(...should i wrote the netsh thing in swedish or what? and should i wrote all the lines at the same time or just one at time?

Posted by: DeLoReAnMcLaReN

You have to write "Internal" of the last command in your COMPUTER'S language. There's some special way using & and a couple of numbers if you need special characters. In the cmd.exe part, fyi, it's three SEPERATE commands that you have to enter.

Try using:

netsh routing ip nat install
netsh routing ip nat add interface "YOUR LAN INTERFACE NAME OR NETWORK BRIDGE NAME" full
netsh routing ip nat add interface Internal private

Posted by: dmitrip

Saw no options to setup a new access point with Nokia PC Suite 6.1 (7610), and no "Communications cable between 2 Computers" option in XP. Blah.

Maybe you should put versions you are using in your guide..

okay I finished entering all the cmd commands but when i'm trying to access a page, it still tries to dial the number.. there is a small phone that appears in the upper right corner.

has anyone else tried this?

I've been using my lappy's net connection over BT for some time now. It was enabled when I installed some .sis file associated with the Doris browser. There was no need for the complicated setup outlined above. Simply making a BT serial connection to the phone was needed.

Right!

Posted by: nk_au

What is a "YOUR LAN INTERFACE NAME OR NETWORK BRIDGE NAME"?

Where do I find the name?

Posted by: DeLoReAnMcLaReN

If you go to My Network Places, it should be one of your LAN connection names. Just keep trying each one of the connection names until your computer accepts it. My name there was my network bridge's name.

Ok, got that working

I type in "netsh router ip nat add interface Internal private"

and i get:

"the following command was not found: router ip nat add interface Internal private"

Has anybody tested this method on a okia 7610 ??

Where do I input these settings exactly? I have a 7610 and I have Nokia PC suite Version 6.2, I do not see a settings wizard in it. There is a settings wizard application on the phone itself, however, when I try running it I get the error 'Settings for your network operator are not available in this version of SettingWizard'. I am very interested in using my PC's internet on my phone, but I do not understand how I am supposed to transfer those settings to my phone... Please help me out.
Thank you.

Posted by: DeLoReAnMcLaReN

Try inputting the "CSD" settings directly into your phone. Remeber though... in the input box it should have line breaks just like I typed it all. That's what it looked like in my 6600 after doing it thru PC Suite.

Posted by: NL4J

Hey you!

who needs this BT/PC connection!!!!

J/K nice job man

Posted by: hassanmahmood

On the phone itself I am unable to choose most of these options, there are very few GPRS options available in the phone settings, things like PPP Compression, Dial Up Number and Login Script are not available. And GSM Data/HSCDC are not available as options either.

secondly....Nokia Modem Options (thats where we're supposed to set up the connection right?) does not detect my phone through bluetooth or through USB. PC Suite detects tho.

Pretty much have everything sorted but know the LAN /Bridge Name, any help

Posted by: DeLoReAnMcLaReN

Just try every name of your connections under "Network Connections" in the Control Panel. It should have something to do with your LAN though, but if anything, try some other names around there. BTW, you gotta include quotation marks in your command prompt lines for your LAN name. Good luck!

I just purchased a 6620 from AT&T yesterday. I am trying to get this "IP over BlueTooth" to work on my phone. I have followed all the directions posed here - no luck. I have heard that the 6620 does not use mRouter technology, unlike its sibling the 6600. Could this be the cause of the problem?

I bought this phone with the intention of using it to connect to the internet without paying ATT's crazy rate data plans. I mean, I'm already paying for an internet connection - why shouldn't I use it?

I'm using a Powerbook g4 with built-in bluetooth. ATT doesn't tell you that this phone won't sync with the iSync standard. It will connect via bt and send files though.

Help!

Posted by: DeLoReAnMcLaReN

Your M-Router should NOT be connecting to your phone... turn off m-router's com port that it uses to connect to your phone. It should work then. I got another version of these directions if they help you out more... it's just another way of explaining them. http://nokiafree.org/forums/t62871/h/s.html

Good luck!

cheers dude.
ok i got it to connect to the pc n everyhings fine up no transfering of data.

ive tried making the connections on all the ports and still nothing.... so i added all ports to the mobile connections thing in the cp and now its saying invalid user/pw

i think i need to sleep n try with a clear head.

jus one question tho.... does this work with BT dongles? as ive been look around on the net and ive seen ppl say it only seems to be working with BT access points?

No, it's not possible since the phone during this type of connection goes through another "port" in the computer which leads to your internet access. The phone can only go through one port at a time.

Posted by: XiPPiE

ok guys- help me out, please. i get only up to here-

3) Choose "Communications cable between 2 Computers" from the "(Standard Modem Types)" list.

4) Select the COM Port to be the COM Port that your phone connects to via Bluetooth Serial Port.

I don't see any ports available when clicking Next after #3. Thus, I am unable to go to the next step.. =( Why is that? Any ideas?

Hey guys - I do really need help! As some others asked before: How do I make a new profile/access point/WAP Connection profile??? I am using a Nokia 7610 and have tried the PC-Suite 6.1 and 6.3 - there is no option like that! DeLoReAnMcLaReN, did you try it with a Nokia 7610 or did you just guess that this works? If you tried, with which PC-Suite?
Thanks in advance,

I've a Nokia 7610. I tried & work around the instructions by DeLoReAnMcLaReN.

However even with the steps in the tutorial completed, I'm still stuck.

I ran gnubox & then try to use a 7610 App to use Bt to access my PC. However my PC does not seem to receive any connections.

Is there anything I can turn on to see what is being sent by the nokia 7610 side.

I append the log for the PC side (XP)
09-22-2004 01:41:05.876 - The Modem has been powered up after a system suspend.

PS: I could not use the nokia PC Suite to create the AccessPoint. I worked around by going to the Nokia7610 and create it by Settings/Connection/AccessPoints.
Some of the settings need to be set by options/advancedSetting.

Posted by: Nokia Master

Can someone pls tell me where I make a new profile/access point/WAP Connection profile VIA Pc Suite?

Thanks

Posted by: lacer

The Pc Suite for the 7610 does not support making new access points. You have to enter the data directly in your phone. When you create a new access point, go to options ~> advanced settings.

But how can I enter the script in my phone?!

Posted by: lacer

As I said: under advanced settings..

Choose: Settings ~> Connection ~> Access points ~> Options ~> Newss access point ~> Use default settings

Chose Data bearer "Data call"

then Options ~> Advanced settings ~> Login script

Well, that was simple enough to find it out on your own..

Say did this even work for you?

No =) But I did not try it longer than ten minutes.. Maybe next weekend Tell me if it works for you and how you did it..

Could someone with a 7610 post a guide how he has achieved this?
If it is possible....
Seems everyone with a 7610 is having problems.

Hi, thanx for the tutorial n everything. i'm using a Nokia 7610 and a laptop with a Bluetooth dongle. I've done everything according to the instructions but everytime i try to connect, there is no indications on my laptop that says there is any connection at all. Does this have anything to do with the fact that I am using a usb bluetooth dongle? Really appreciate if any help that could be given!

Posted by: lacer

Hi hseng12 - just forget it, it does not work on the 7610. In this whole thread you will only find posts from 7610-User who have problems with it. DeLoReAnMcLaReN just took this tutorial from another site and thought it would work for the 7610, too. This tutorial was in original just for the 6600.

NICE STUFF.

Can you access files on my computer and stream them vai BT to watch on my phone? using realone

Posted by: naymyosan

I am using a 6260 and I've followed all the instructions there carefully. But when I try to use the internet, I says "Connecting via Bt" and stays there for a very long time, and then I get "Unable to connect, check settings".

My bluetooth com port on my pc is COM5, I know this since I can use bemused on it. I have shut down bemused while I'm doing this.

Anyway, when I use gnubox, I get:

ModemBearer

PortName: BTCOMM::0
CSVName: BTCOMM
TSVName: PHONETSV

Even when selecting for the com port in the modems, the minimum is COM1.

Thanks,

In nokia pc suite there is no setting manager how did you put the login script into the nokia 6260? And did it work?

Posted by: dolittle

I've been playing around with this for a while!!

Can anyone confirm this set up on a 7610?

It looks like I had success one time, but when using Opera I couldn't find the hosts. I'm asuming this was because of faulty/missing dns settings.

I tried to manually set the dns, but after that, nothing worked. Now it just keeps dialing the "dummy" number.

Hope anyone can verify

/Lars

Posted by: hor255

Can anybody who has succeeded with the tutorial say if he has same settings displayed when starting gnubox->Direct over BT. Here is mine:

Bluetooth settings ...
DialOutISP
Description: Direct 2Box
DefaultTelNum:222222
ModemBearer
Portname: BTCOMM::0
CSVName: BTCOMM
TSVName: PHONETSY

I would like to know whats wrong with my settings. I hope it does not sound too lame.

First of all, thank you so much for putting this time and effort regarding this matter, as all the solutions I came across before were just a waste of time. I dunno why I have a feeling that this solution seems to work, maybe cuz its the only one that makes sense to me until now. Anyways, I am attempting this on both a 7610 and a 6260 Nokia phones. The only obstacle facing me now is that all the PC Suite versions I'm able to get don't have the "new profile/access point/WAP Connection profile" option anymore. I remember that I used a version that had this capability with my old 7250 but I can't find that version anymore and even if so, I'm not sure it will be compatible with any of the newer phones. Could you please specify the exact version you were able to carry out all this through?

Once again thank you for your effort, I know it must have been a pain in the a$$ getting all this together. Good job.

Any ideas why? Maybe I just have a retarded computer.

Posted by: nokya

has anyone got this to work with a 6260?

Posted by: Thanh-BKK

Hi there

I am using this thing since yesterday on a 3650. It works, have to let mRouter connect w/ phone first tough. Now a question:

Do i set "2Box DIRECT" or "2Box DIALUP" to "Bluetooth", or BOTH of them?

I have so far only tried with the "Dialup", and it worked. But then i can NOT use GPRS anymore, setting access points back to my standard GPRS it will always come with "System error" and also sending/receiving MMS won't work. To get GPRS back, i have to set BOTH "Dialup" AND "Direct" to "infrared" first, and THEN use "1Box Phone", which will restore the GPRS functionality. If i use only "1Box Phone" w/o the IR first, it won't work.

Is there an easier way, i have heard of people having BT successfully when selecting the BT access point AND GPRS when just selecting THAT access point?

I do understand that this thread is for 6600 and 7610, but there's no thread dealing with the 3650, and i googled for hours already.

Kind regards.....

Thanh

I've recently bought a N6630 which is more or less always connected to my computer when I'm at home.
I've seen a lot of people say that the 6630 doesn't use serial connections over bt. This is just partly correct. Serial port connectivity isn't available when probing it's bluetooth capabilities - but - when Nokia PCsuite connects to the phone it seems to be using a serial connection of some sort.
This is quite strange, really...
I'm using ControlFreak and Bemused to control winamp on my pc - and for the first time in history I can be connected with controlfreak - WHILE installing software via pcsuite. Extremely flexible - but both the bemused server and the cf server is set up in exactly the same way that I had it set up on my 3650 - that is, via Com 4.... Com-ports are usually serial ports, or am I wrong?
So - there's got to be some mrouter equivalent buried deep down in my system. I just haven't a clue as to how to make it do what I want.
A lot of the features in the tut. didn't match the ones in my access point settings, so I'm guessing that -this- tut. won't be very effective for me. Anyone have a clue as to how to get connection sharing via bluetooth running to a 6630?

im having trouble with step 15.

when i type in any of those three commands i get the message "the following command was not found: netsh router ip nat install"

any1 know wat is wrong?

Posted by: ogag

Ok, im stuck in this scenario.

Im on cmd.exe.

I type in netsh routing ip nat install. I click enter. Am i suppose to see some type of responce from this command or will it just jump to the next command prompt for me to type in the second command which is netsh router ip nat add interface "YOUR LAN INTERFACE NAME OR NETWORK BRIDGE NAME" full

As i hit enter to see which name i need to use all it gives me is this error message... NAT must be installed first. What am i doing wrong here? I cant get past that.

... that he knows his way around cellphones a lot better than most of us, so of course he's going to get a few questions. I know my way around a computer better than the average MS Word user, so I get asked to set up and build comps all of the time. And.. people call me when they've been brave enough to try something for themselves - and wound up with hardware that doesn't work... "Why can't I get my monitor to work... you know... I installed this graphics card... and and and... WHINE!" - "ehr.. haven't a clue! Checked if your powersupply can handle it?"
Whenever anyone indicates that they know more than what is normal about a product or a niche they will be asked to help out, becuase people naturally presume that they'll be able to.
Anyways. I'm still wondering about how to relay my internet connection to my 6630. If anyone has a clue as to how to do this I'd be eternally grateful. It's got 3g, but 3g is a bit expensive to be using at home when I've got a uni t3 in the socket on the wall and lots of bluetooth thingies :>

This method is unnecessary for the 36XX phones. Before you could even connect to the internet though your BT connection on your PC you'd have to fix the comm port issues and able to connect to the PC Suite.

After the 36XX phones the way Nokia connects to the phones is a bit different which is why you need these extra steps. The 36xx phones connect much easier without the need for complicated scripts or setups.

Have any bright ideas how should I put all settings in my control panel with out reinstalling windows?...have 160gb of stuff which i do not want to loose...and backing up this on DVD-s--->would take for eternity....

Why cant it all work with out any problems?

Without known what you did or whats going on with your com ports the easiest thing may be to uninstall and reinstall the BT and pc suite. Always install BT and make sure it's working first before installing PC Suite.

Coudl anyone help me out and give me a link or instructions on how to connect the 3620 to the internet via BT? it'd be greatly appreciated. I've read that connecting the 36xx series should be easier, but i dont' know how to get it to work. thanks dudes and dudettes!

I just downloaded the newest Nokia PC Suite (v.6.5) and it includes an app called, One Touch Access.

It was easy to configure. Just select your approriate operator and click on the connect button. Didn't need to touch any settings on my phone.

I'm posting this reply via my 6230 connected with a DKU-2 USB cable.

(Now I just need to figure out if they'll charge me for tethering )

Just wanna tell you that it finally works with my 7610.

I just followed the method mentioned in this forum:
