ok so I solved the solution of hte computer finding my phone. Now I am having the problem of it communicating with the phone. If i have bitpim7 i choose the audiovox 8900 and on the correct COM and i cannot send files to my phone.
If i choose the VX4400 I can see all my info and i have the ability to send files to my phone but it wont cause it gives me the error saying its looking for VX4400 hardware when i have 8900 hardware.
it goes on for a long time but i dont wanna post up all the jiberish.
I have also tried other phones but i get the same VX4400
error even though I am supposely using a diff phone model.
an unexpected exception has occurred.
Please see the help for details on what to do.

make sure that you select "VX6000" as you phone, then put the correct COM port that matches the data cable found under system devices, instead of clicking the "get phone data", click the file system tab, and the "+" to open the root directory, this should work, at least it did for me...
i always thought to click the get phone data button, and that always gave me the error you're getting...hope this helps

the problem is not commuinicating with the phone. It commmuinicates fine. Its when i press send data ( to send the pics/midi files ) is where i get the errors.
it views the file listing and such nice and dandy
just havin problem sending files.

When you hit the send or get phone data button you will always get the error.
Just go to the filesystem tab, expand the root and fnd the file you want to overwrite and right click on it and select overwrite and browse to the appropriate file on your hard drive.
Until BitPim supports our model of phone we can only "hack" our phone the formentioned way through the filesystem tab only.

so if i wanted to put the file sound.mp3 on my phone ( which does not exist on my phone ) how would i go about doing that ?
basically which directory could i dump the file in so that my phone will see it ?

You can not just dump files into your phone.
Go read this main thread http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...threadid=388537
It says cricket but it will work for all vendors
There are a few routes you can use but read the whole thread and use which ever method you feel comfortable with.
