PROGRAMMING & SERVICE CODES

*** WARNING *** -- Some of the programming and service codes below can damage your settings, deactivate, lock out your phone or worse. Please only use these if you are sure of what you are doing. NO ONE IN THIS FORUM INCLUDING THE AUTHOR OF THIS THREAD WILL BE HELD LIABLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS!!

NOTE: All of the codes below require you to press the {END} key at the end of the number.

##20022002 - NAM programming Be Careful!
##7678 (##PORT) - RunTime DevMap
##7738 (##PREV) - Change P_Rev. Allows you to force CDMA (Select Rev 4)
##2283 (##BAUD) - Set the data port baud rate
##2240 - S/W test
##2250 - RFNV Contents. Tons of options here. I have no idea what they do.
##1111 - EFS space (This doesn't seem to work on the 8900. The screen loses resolution and freezes...Press {END} to unfreeze)
##2222 - RF stuff displays CDMA Automatic Gain Control and Low Noise Amplifier data
##1122 - Test ringtone, vibrate, and colors. Adjust contrast and stuff.
##1133 - Be careful! Resets the phone back to factory settings.
##1144 - Change the length of the keypad tones. Navigation keys don't work here, use the numbers to change values.

#7623 (#ROAD) Roadside assistance. I'm not sure what they do, but I'm sure it will cost you.
#5625* (#LOCK*) Unlocks keypad and tells you the code (very useful for sure)

##2769737 (##BROWSER) Internet Options. This is where you can change uplink IP port
##27732726 - Software tests and stuff. Displays the date/time of firmware. Lots of cool stuff in here.
##27752345 - Battery info and modification. Be careful!

2539** - Changes authentication key. This is the A-Key or Authentication Key. Don't mess with it!

**1004 DM Mode Enable (harmless but I'm unsure what it does, maybe don't try just in case)
**1005 DS Mode Enable (same as above)
##2773 - Debug - Field test mode.
Rx = Receive power measured in dB.
Tx = Send power measured in dB.
P_Rev Protocol Revision = 6 is 1x, 4 is regular CDMA.
Ec = A measure of how strong individual connections from the tower are compared to everything that the tower is transmitting. Compares the pilot signal to the overall level of traffic, but this is a good indicator of how your connection compares to the overall level of traffic from the tower. -3 dB to -8 dB is usually a “good” Ec. When Ec gets larger, like -10 dB or -15 dB phones will start having trouble maintaining their connections, even with full signal. C = Channel. B side carriers start on 384. Will increase by 1.25MHz or 41 channels.

VERIZON SERVICE NUMBERS

NOTE: All of the codes below require you to press the {SEND} key at the end of the number.

*611 - Call Verizon customer service. I've nearly worn these keys off my phone. FREE CALL 24/7!!
411 - Information. You can actually get all sorts of cool things (restaurant listing, movie listings, etc.) from these guys, though they give you the wrong phone number about half the time. It costs $$ plus airtime for each call.
#646 (#MIN) - Stay on the line a few seconds to receive a text message displaying last bill date and total, total peak minutes, total off-peak/night minutes, total weekend minutes, total peak mobile2mobile minutes, and total off-peak mobile2mobile minutes. No more checking my balance online. This is a free text message.
#225 (#BAL) - Same as above.
#84 (#VG) - Voice Gear. A pay service that allows you to dial numbers and access information (stock quotes, sports scores, directory assistance, etc.) with your voice.
*86 (*VM) - access voice mail. Press # during your greeting, then follow the prompts. Airtime charges apply.
*228 - Select option 1 to update/program your phone. I don't think this really does anything. It does NOT update your phones firmware. Select option to to update your preferred roaming list (PRL). This tells your phone which wireless systems to use and which ones not to use. Update this every few months, especially if you travel - it may save you a lot in roaming charges if your phone is using someone else's network when a new Verizon tower is in the area. Your phone will automatically reset when it is done.
*67 +10 digit number - Disable caller id for your call. The party you're calling will see 'Unavailable' instead of your number.
*72 + 10 digit number - Start call forwarding. Calls will be forwarded to the number you enter if you do not answer after 2 or 3 rings or if you are currently using the phone.
*73 - End call forwarding.

Be Careful, but have fun!!

Great stuff, cheers

Awesome job. Why does no one sticky this and the other tutorial?

Also, can we upload images (animated or not) to our phone through bitpim for use as wallpaper, screensaver, etc. ? (ie without vzwpics)

Posted by: cuwmb2

You can upload images through BitPim, but you will first have to "seed" them with vzwpix.com. ***OR*** you at least need to sign up for vzwpix.com to get a phone e-mail address to which you can send "seed" pics!

Hope this answers your questions!

P.S. ~ I really wish that someone would sticky my tutorials also! It would help out many!

Could someone please explain what these really mean and what they are used for?

Probably a phone dealer could! Hehe!

For all the ## codes out there, I have to say that only 2 are worth anything:
##2773 <end> debug mode - Find out what's really going on with the Verizon network
##8378 <OK> Force CDMA

All the other are worthless & do nothing of any value.

Well thank you, but maybe you could explain what force CDMA means? I don't know how I am supposed to know this.

Posted by: aovsi

*71+area code+number*.

Conditional forward = forwards your calls to another number* ONLY if your phone is busy/unavailable/has no signal... etc.

This is EXTREMELY useful.

I guess not.

BTW, I have Bitpim, and will be recieving a USB cable from ebay soon enough.

thanks

Posted by: TBone2004

I know that girl is very annoying, but I have been told that there is absolutely no way to get her if her *itch as*... Great huh?

Posted by: cuwmb2

I don't know how to get rid of the girl either. But I do agree, she is very annoying!

Why would I ever need to switch the phone to Forced CDMA? is there better coverage than the 1X network?

also does this code overwrite the ##PREV code?

thanks

I use the ##TEST regularly when I'm in an area where signal is unstable and it keeps searching for signal. it works great. As far as 1X goes, I've been explained by a Verizon tech that it simply means that there is wireless access (mobile web) available in that area.

What does ##PREV do? It seems to be a completely different thing.

Yea it seems to change the 1X indicator to a D indicator so i was thinking that it totally switches off the PCS1900 side of the phone in favor of pure CDMA

I could be wrong but that is what it seems like to me.

Posted by: bobbyz

Can I prevent the phone from showing the incoming name on the front panel? I don’t want others to see who is calling me.

Posted by: cuwmb2

sorry, bobbyz, don't think you can do that!

Posted by: mikey4226

if you switch to forced cdma, can you switch it back when your done?

Posted by: cuwmb2

Hmmm...that's another one I'm not sure about. Try asking your local provider <----Just joking!!

Posted by: rbowen

Yes, it would "in theory" return to normal settings once the phone is power cycled...The firmware should reset things. Don't quote me when your software is jacked tho...

Posted by: cuwmb2

It seems the link, for the data cable, at the start of this thread is/has not been working correctly. The updated link is below!

Radio Shack Catalog #17-792

Sorry for the mishap!

Any1 know a code to factory reset the fone ??
--erase all contact memos photos etc..

:evileye:

Posted by: corndog

I've totally forgotten what the code is to play that silly bump music audio clip that comes with the 8900 phone. I was going to play it for my little grandson but forgot what it was. Anyone know what this is?

Posted by: corndog

It just hit me. It's ##POLY (end).

Does anyone know how to clear up the pics on the 8900? They were fine untill my b-freind messed with them, now they are blurry. Also do you know where I can find out more about working the camera and it's features?

Clean the camera lens. There's all to it, it won't get any clearer, it's not a high-quality camera/lens. He didn't mess anything up. The features are not hidden, everything is in the menu when you get into picture taking mode, nothing is hidden. That's it.

Posted by: dml1272

I didn't mean that he messed with the settings on the camera. I meant the pictures were fine when I took them and now those same pictures are blurry. Almost like they are pics on top of other pics.

Posted by: aovsi

Clean the lens and see what happens. Get a toothpick, wrap a soft paper towel around it and clean the lens. Be gentle, don't poke through the paper towel and don't scratch the lense.

Posted by: TakenAback

I'd say use a puffed out (pull the tip) q-tip dipped in alcohol.

Ok, I tried that. It did great for the new pics I'm taking, but, nothing to clear the ones that are already on there. ( Like they were before.) Also , when I'm looking through my gallery, I get a mess. that says' invalid file'. Then it asks if I want to delete it, when I hit no it shuts my phone off. If anyone can help figure this out, I'd appreciate it. I need these pics cleared up again! They are pics of me that never should have been taken, which is why he messed with them, and I can't do anything about it untill I clear them back up!

Have your software updated at a corporate Verizon store.

I wish I was. I'm new at this, can I go to verizon's website to get an update?

Posted by: TakenAback

I'm not saying that's what you need to do, but if by "software update" you mean a firmware flash, you can do that, but it's riskier than taking it to a dealer for it.

If you decide to, then check out mobile-fles.com

I have an Adiovox 8900 and it keeps telling me "This is not our adapter" or "check charger connecion" with a picture of a battery with the word "error" inside of it. I took it to the verizion store and tehy flashed it, but that didn't work. Any ideas?

Posted by: PoopilyDoo

BTW thats when I have the charger plugged in and I'm trying to charge it.

Posted by: Blaze One

I need to know this answer too ^^^^^ . Even though it is almost a year old :-)

This can be caused by several things. Below, I have listed a few common causes.

01. Third-party Power Adapter: The current firmware can distinguish the difference.
02. Bad Power Adapter: The adapter could have received, or is receiving, higher or lower voltage than expected.
03. Bad Phone: You phone could be physically damaged (normally internal).

I hope this helps!
