Its cheaper and all you need are the FutureDial drivers off there website.

http://www.futuredial.com/support/u...ers/Drivers.htm
Select the Automatic USB Driver Installation link.

Remember install the drivers first then attach USB cable

Cricket and Verizon phones dont work the same ..am i correct?

The Radio Shack 17-792 is for the LGvx6000, but will somewhat work with Audiovox 8900. When I went to Radio Shack, they had replaced their cable (17-792) with the Future Dial cable #19 (170-0792). Since then Future Dial has come out with a cable designed specifically for the AudioVox 8900 (#28) and can be pruchased through their web site:

http://www.futuredial.com/matrix/M_Audiovox.htm

for $29.00. I would reccommend buying the cable designed for your phone, the one I have (#19 or 170-0792) does not support all the features available in BitPim or other software products and runs kinda clunky.

i purchased this cable off ebay...the main reason was that it said it was made for the 8900 and that it supports futuredial software...do u think it was a good buy?

Hard saying, the link he posted:

http://www.futuredial.com/Products/P_Cables.htm

Only shows the USB cable compatible with the 9100, 9155SP, 9155GPX, all the others are serial? I would ask him for the part or cable number, but for $8.95, how can you go wrong!

I've been searching around this (awesome) forum for a solid day, and someone said that cable will work with an Audiovox 8600.. is that true?

Thanks

Edit: after reading the long 8600 thread, I'm pretty sure it will work, and if not, there are a bunch more cables I can use.

I bought one off of eBay from "BargainCell", and it worked (sort of). Everytime I unplugged the cable from the computer or unplugged the phone from the cable, my computer would crash/shutdown. I got sick of my computer crashing, so I decided to buy the Radio Shack cable, and I love it! It works great...no more crashing! For an update on the Radio Shack cable, see the post below!
