i dont know if this occurs on phones outside of the bell network. but on my phone i have the text '1X Ready' always appear on the wallpaper. there is also a little 1x icon in the top left of the display so it seems some what redudant to have it written as well.

Anyone know how to get rid of it?

do a search on it in these forums as I think I recall seeing this topic discussed heavily. My VZ did not have it so I did not investigate too much, but I think a search will reveal the steps needed to do this.

You need a data cable and the Kyocera PST for that supports that phone.

It's pretty easy to find the text once you've got this stuff. You can find it under 3g data text or something. Just put a space in that field and update the phone.
