By the way, I have the Kyocera SE47 with Verizon.
Okay, so I successfully downloaded 3 or 4 ringtones. Today, I was in the middle of transferring another when all of a sudden, an error message comes up: "Device Needs Attention"
So the file I'm transferring isn't completely sent. I try to delete it, won't work. Turn off phone. Try to turn back on. WON'T TURN BACK ON AT ALL. Instead, there are these little letters on the top left of the screen:
dog .c
00818
I take out the battery. Put it back in, turn the phone on. The screen lights up and an hour glass comes on and the hourglass is rotating and then freezes. Take out the battery, put it back in, turn it back on. Now there are these little letters on the top left:
fs_dir .c
02251
Please, can someone help me? This is my third day with this phone and if nothing works, I'm gonna go to the Verizon store and hopefully a technician can fix it.

Were these ringtones MP3's or MIDI's? This error usually pops up when the phone's memory gets overloaded, and usually then it is because of MP3 ringtones.
I don't know if anyone besides a technician can fix it... search around the forums for the dog.c message in case anyone had any luck with it.

If it's only three days old just bring it back to Verizon and play dumb. They should replace it.

They were mp3s. I think that's what happened (not enough space) but yeah, I'm getting my phone replaced. These are 2 concerns however:
1) I have to re-enter my contacts. Pain in the @SS but I can deal.
2) I'm scared to put in mp3s on my phone again in case that ever happens. It was probably a space thing but the lady at Verizon told me it was a virus so now I'm scared to do it again. I scanned my ringtones and everything and it's clean so I have no idea what "virus" she's talking about but yeah. Blah. What do you think?

Does anyone know how much space is available on the Kyocera Slider (Verizon) for ringtones and wallpapers, etc.?
See, if this problem happened because my phone was out of space while I was transferring a ring tone, I don't see why because I only had about 1000KB's total of mp3 ringtones. If that's the max space the phone has available, then I can see why this problem occurred but if there's more than 1000 KB's of space that can be used, I want to know what the reason for this error is so I can avoid it in the future.

I think GAGIN will tell you how much memory is left on the phone, but people still got the error because you can't fill it all the way up... it needed something like 300k free.
What was the total size of the three files that made it? I'd make that your maximum.
After all the posts of this problem I never upload MP3's... only MIDI's. I'd say pick two MP3 ringtones you like that already were copied and use MIDI's for the rest. Much smaller files. Not as cool, but they don't tend to crash the phone due to filesize either.

You should call your phone a few times and time how many seconds it rings before it goes to voicemail/disconnects the call. Then make your ringtones a second or so longer than the average. I did that with mine and was able to cut my ring tones from 30+ seconds to 20. The difference in all my ring tones saved me a ton of space for more songs.
I've had Bitpim give me that odd error in the middle of an upload, I simply uploaded again, since it was the same name it just overwrote the bad file and I'm fine.
