Sanyo 8200 Battery Life???

I just purchased a Sanyo 8200. After years of being strickly a Nokia user I took a chance. Phone works Great, speaker phone is good. Nice features. But battery only last a couple of days with moderate use. I am use to Nokia's lasting 5,6, 7 days without recharging. Anyone else have this problem or is this just the standard battery life?

The Nokia PM-6225 on Sprint has poor battery life I can get it barely to last a day

I need to charge it twice a day. Even, if I don't use it during the course of the day I will need to charge at night.

With the Sanyo VM-4500 It will normally last a whole day with heavy talk.

I wonder why Nokia can make phones with long lasting battery life and other can't . Or does it have something to do with the provider? I doubt it, but maybe.

It's more with the technology.

The same battery from my Nokia PM-6225 without using will last 1 day at most before phone completely dies. (CDMA)

However, in Nokia 3200 (GSM) with Cingular. The same battery without using the phone gives me 3-4 days of standby.

It seems CDMA constantly switch between different towers. And the signal varies. With GSM for me it seems the signal is more constant and the phone pretty much stays on the same tower.

Nokia uses a different CDMA chip in their phones TI chip which is faster at searching network and this causes the drain in battery.

Most every other CDMA phone uses QUALCOMM chips which has quite a few years ahead of TI chip.

high resolution color screen, camera, vision internet...phone technology and gagets have come along way in the last 2 years or so but battery technology is essentially the same. phones with all the cool stuff will naturally last less time per charge. the best way to optimize battery life per charge and lifetime is to fully charge and decharge your battery every time.
