Looking for new phone/service

I currently have two phones (a Motorola t720 and a Samsung A530S) with two different providers (Cingular and Verizon).

I hate the t720, and the service on both is pretty ×××× crappy.

My t720 has a ringer volume issue, and lately it's been shutting off every time I get a call. THAT's really annoying to me, plus the person who's calling (usually my wife). I'm still getting a lot of dropped calls with Cingular on this phone. I already sent this phone back to Motorola once to correct an echoing problem, they had it for a month before it came back. I don't want to go through that again.

The A530S doesn't work in my office. It's halfway decent in other places, but still not what I expect. I carry both phones with me, and some places where the Verizon phone doesn't work the Cingular phone will, and vice-versa.

I had a Motorola i90 with Nextel before I got the A530S, and I was pretty happy with the walkie-talkie features, but the cell phone service was crappy as well. My brother (who lives in the same area) has a Nextel phone now - the i730, I think - but he has issues with losing service in lots of areas.

Anyway... The Cingular contract on the t720 is up soon, and I'm going to be ditching both the phones and the service. Here's the questions:

1. What provider has good service on Long Island, especially Suffolk County?
2. What phone is small, easy to use and has a LOUD ringer?

I don't need any special features, such as IM or cameras. Just a basic phone that's simple and LOUD.

Help, please!
