i am in the process of trying to make the nokia 3300 have a light up keypad which it does not have stock. so if i get close and take pics, ill post them in the modding/ light up keypad for 3300 thread.

Anything new? I just purchased the 3300. I would be real interested in having a light-up keypad like my current 6800 has.

Why add more lights? You can get led's that are brighter than the standard ones. Not too hard to change 'em and you won't mess up your phone.

the extra LEDs consumes about 50% ~ 75% of the battery power, it drains off alot of battery when the lights are on for +/- 1 minute.

Have tried adding a few more LEDs to 33xx phones...but whats the point of having a kool phone when your standby time sux ? A full charged battery lasted less than half a day for 6 more Bright White LEDs added.

And if your workmanship is poor...you may end up getting "CONTACT SERVICE" on your phone.

well....i cant add more....its way to hard for me....im not that good.
as for getting brighter LED'S...that i would be able to do....but where to get them...and where are the oem ones in my phone get sodered....its a strange looking board.

hey lothos.....got and ideas or tutorials....or instructions....gimmie sumthing!!!!

Is this for the 3390? There's instructions and pics on nokialight.com and a few others but I don't have my bookmarks handy. Got my led's from cellphoneshop.net when I did another order but they're cheaper on ebay.

i was informed by my friend that i could go to a hobbie shop to buy LEDs but they might not match up.....not sure what to do.....cant find info on LEDs for nokia 3300 anywhere....not even google jwans!..

Don't overlook an electronics distributer like Digi-Key, they sell brand name LED's. Digi-Key

As for battery usage, stock LED's in a phone are usually current-limited to about 10-13 mA per LED. Since at *most* an LED takes 20 mA before it burns out, then figure for a phone with, say, 8 lights like an 8390, the added current drain isn't even twice the draw of stock - 5 x 8 mA is 40 mA, and stock lights aren't on all the time anyways.

The big killer, actually is flashing keypads or batteries that are always on while the phone is being used, or flashing antennas.

You can actually make the leds brigher by bridging them. Don't ask how, im not an expert there...

Try the nextel forums. They do this kind of thing to their phones all the time. They might not have nokias, but the basics behind it are the same.

isn't adding more lights to ur fone kinda pointless?? it jus waste more battery........btw, i seen ppl in Pacific mall do it, but they jus replace the normal LEDs (green) with another other like blue. Or u can ask ppl tere how to do......but don't think they will teach u......
