unexpected exception in bitpim

I am able to to go to view and open the filesystem and view the tree under name, and am able to download my pix (yeah!), but when I go to data, get phone data....I recieve the error message that an unexpected exception has occurred. Should I be able to access that part of bitpim? I'm using the rs cable, bitpim version 7.11, the futuredial drivers and an 8900 phone.
Any insight would be great.

The " Get Phone Data" and " Send Phone Data" does not work for our phones, we can only manipulate them through the filesystem tab only.
