Error in BitPim

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Fastest95PGT

I have downloaded all the drivers/files as suggested by the tutorials on the 8900.

I can dial up so I know it's connected properly.

To ensure all connections to the port were closed, I disconnected and then unplugged / replugged the cable from the computer so it was no longer in use.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You dont select VX4400 with our phones. When installing the drives you need to select VX6000.

Posted by: Fastest95PGT

So I installed the VX6000 drivers but BitPim keeps defaulting to the 4400 regardless.

I don't see a place to change it in BitPim... suggestions?

Posted by: Fastest95PGT

Sorry for the hasty post above this one. I did some googleing and found a BitPim modified for the VX-6000.

Now I get the same error but for the VX-6000 instead.

Suggestions are appreciated.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Are you using an EBAY cable and Curitel drivers?

Try uninstalling the Curitel drivers and using the Future Dial ones.
Future Dial Drivers (4 Megs)

Posted by: Fastest95PGT

I'm using the Future Dial drivers with a Radio Shack 6000 cable.

Posted by: Fastest95PGT

I appear to have gotten it to work. I unstalled BitPim installed the USB Installer drivers from Future Dial again, then re-installed BitPim.

Maybe installing the VX6000 BitPim over the VX4400 BitPim didn't replace everything afterall.

Now I get a brew exception saying a file's not found... the fun never ends! But at least I can access the file tree to back it up. Now I'll start modding it and see how it goes.

Posted by: vox8900

Cool,
As long as you can get to the FileSyatem tab and expand the tree, your are set to go. All other features in BitPim (ie. send data, get data, address book) does not work for our phones.

You may get the occasional TraceBack error when expanding the tree but just close the error out and then re-expand the tree.

Thanks vox for your help.

I already got rid of that ANNOYING VERIZON WIRELESS thing on the outside so now I can actually see who's calling. And hacked the WAP even tho I don't even use that, but why not.

i seem to be having the same problem and need some help.
here is the USB Cable I got from EBAY:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...me=STRK:MEWN:IT

On one PC, I installed the drivers that came with the cable and bitpim .62. bitpim just sits there with BUZY and Retreiving and never does anything, no errors. I removed the drivers that came with the cable and tried the curitel and got the same results.

After seeing this post, I moved to another computer. I installed the futuredial drivers using the auto install, selected the LG VX6000 during the install and install bitpim that is for the VX6000. on this PC, i get the error described in this topic. what should i do now ? one thing i find odd is when i plug in the phone to the usb, windowsXP auto detects and wants to install a curitel device/driver ?

plz help!

Posted by: Fastest95PGT

All I can recommend is what worked for me. Uninstall BitPim completely. Delete the folder if it's still there. Then install the Future Dial drivers (USB Installer) selecting the VX6000 (VERIZON) then re-install BitPim for th VX6000.

That worked for me.

Make sure your phone's on and plugged into the cable before plugging it into the computer (dunno if this matters, but it's how I've read to do it). Did you set it to RS232? Mine was defaulted as USB Data instead.

Do not use that version of BitPim it will hose your phone
Uninstall it and get 7.11, Select VX6000 as the phone

Go here to get BitPim

Umm, I'm using .62 and it works fine for me.

I've bee n trying everything... :\

I have the same USB cable mentioned in the above post from ebay. I tried the futuredial drivers... and it wont install, it keeps asking for curitel... I did the auto install, then it asked...so i went and selected each ini... even tried diff versions, nothing worked.

When I use the curitel... I tried many diff phone types, I get the communication error. I dont udnerstand it... :\

I read on the bitpim official page.. the error means there is no data in your callender... maybe not for the 8900, but for another phone... I tried to put data in the callender... same error.

Kind of annoying... I can't find a way around this. Does anyone know any sollution possibly? The curitel drivers install right, my win XP comp recognizes it... makes the noise, ect. So I know it's working... any help? please? -_-

hmm,
When I learned to hack this phone, all the threads I read said not to use .62

All well to each his own.

where is this setting done at ? the tutorials i read mention nothing of it.

Posted by: Fastest95PGT

##7678<end>2<OK>

However, on another look, mine was set at USB Data again like from the factory.. and now I can't get BitPim to work again. Hmm, maybe this is a flaw with .62 as mentioned above and I should upgrade afterall.

bitpim 7.11 is no help... same error.

also, when the phone is connected to the PC, the end button on the phone does not work, therefore i cannot change to RS232. as soon as i plug the cable back in the phone shuts off. this is rediculous.

That sounds like a bad phone to me.. when it DOES work for me, all the buttons work fine.

I have the 8600 and purchased the data cable from radio shack. As soon as the cable came, I plugged in my phone and with hardly any problems and no drivers installed BitPim recognized my phone. I put on pictures, music, and got rid of the @#$% banner.
However, I attempted to reconnect my phone recently to change up some of the wallpapers and rings and I can not get BitPim to recognize my phone. I get the "phone is not responding error." I have tried everything! Any suggestions or possibly an alternative to BitPim??

Posted by: julesism

the phone is only 5 days old..... the end button works just fine when its not attached to a pc via the usb cable. i dont see how it can be a bad phone. but, if it is a bad phone i goto a store, what do i tell them ?

surely there is something else i can do or something im missing to get this working.....

Tell them it's an intermittant problem.. they'll swap it out for you in the first 7 days no prob.

My first phone honestly got loud for some reason once in a while.. so I brought it in and had a new phone in about 10 minutes.. that included moving my phone book over.

Posted by: julesism

sheesh.... alright. cept im 3hrs away from a store. i'm a student in arkansas. im glad i got this phone because i liked it. i didnt look into doing all of this until after, otherwise id be really mad. i still cant see how its the phone. it works perfect w/o the usb cable connection. but does strange things with the cable plugged in (no end button, auto off and on)

no one else has any ideas before i give up and swap the phone ?!?!?

Posted by: Fastest95PGT

Maybe it could be the cable.. tough to say really.

My phone doesn't DO anything special when I plug it in to the cable / computer.. so obviously yours is either the phone or the cable. Without another phone or cable to try the other out on, it's a crap shoot.

Posted by: vox8900

I am betting on the cable, Is it an EGAY cable?
If so, a lot of people get that phone power off issue with a crappy cable.
I have the radio shack cable and I can connect and disconnect it from the phone at will

Posted by: julesism

yea... im thinkin bout gettin a rat shack cable. i just hope that will fix it.

Posted by: stevofc

yeah i have the radio shack cable and it works perfectly. no problems at all.

Posted by: julesism

HOLY SH*T!
I'M IN!

YAY!

i got brave and tried the drivers that came with the cable on a 3rd PC. guess thats why they say 3rd times a charm

also, I selected "Other CDMA Phone" from the list in bitpim. I also tried the COM Port Listed "Curitel Packet Service"
I also set the COM Port in device manager to 115200 and not 38400.

on the other PC's, the only option was "Curitel Packet Service Diag Serial Port (WDM) (COMx)"

thanx for the help guys!

Posted by: Fastest95PGT

Weird that it didn't work on the other two machines... maybe it was a Microsoft issue.

I only tried it in a USB 2.0 port, but I doubt it matters.

And my default speed was the 115200 not 38400 and that's what I left it on.

AHAAHAHAHAH I FOUND OUT HOW TO FIX THE CHEAP EBAY, SHUTOFF DATA CABLE SHIAT

ok first off i turn the phone on (no data cable) then i type ##7678 and change my diag to usb diag (not uart main)

then i plug in the data cable AND QUICKLY BEFORE THE PHONE HAS A CHANCE TO SHUT OFF tapp the volume down (side button to change ringer volume) and itll quickly adjust your ringer leaving the phone on, now the data cable should work with bitpim if youve set it up right

HAHAHA FINALLY
