I recently received an SE47, which turned out to be the Virgin MTV edition. Because of this it apparently isnt compatible with any of the service providers in my area(I live in Canada)due to different frequencies and programming.
Is there any way around this, or am I stuck with a paperweight?

I'm not sure if it will work on Canada, but regarding the paperweight....
You can sell it on eBay and recoup some/all of you cash.
Brand New ones on eBay sell for $100+ US
Used...$85 US +/-

I'm curious as to why it isn't compatible... all SE47's are CDMA... is your carrier not CDMA?
Seems that you should be able to flash the VM SE47 you got with the firmware from someone else's Slider in Canada and have it work.

I talked to Bell Canada, which is CDMA and offers the SE47. Their reps basically gave me some software programming issue that the phone wont work cause it doesnt have the cell map for Canada. Im sure its very possible to get this phone to work fine, they would just rather see me buy THEIR phone. I guess I'll have to go down the list of providers until I find someone thats willing to take the time to help.
