Backing up vx6000 games. (A project)

My vx6000 recently had its VZW keyed metal frame drop out of the bottom. I've been told that this is covered by the manufacturer's warenty. Good good.
But I don't want to lose my brew apps. I've got it into my head that the apps must be able to transport from one phone to another.
So I propose a project:
List which brew apps you have paid for (on vx6000 only please) and we'll get some hex compaires going on to see which files change from phone to phone, and what the changes are. This way, we'll be able to keep our apps when we get a new phone.
If you want to participate, just post which apps you have paid for.
Don't bother with midi ringers apps (mod tones, et al) or wallpaper apps. If you're participating in this project, you're going to need a data cable, and there's no point in having mod tones if you have a data cable.
I have the following:
(all games are purchased, and not on a subscription.)- Combat Tank Attack
- Rate - Personality
- Bejeweled
- 3D Hunting Trophy
- PAC-MAN
- Poker Solitaire

I believe if you get a new phone and let Verizon know what apps you have already paid for, they will reimburse you for purchasing it again on your new phone.
Good idea, but why go through all the trouble if this is true? The only benefit I see to this is sharing the results with others so they can get free apps based on you already purchasing them.

thats the point we paid for some but can get more from others for free and vice versa, I see no problem with this project.

I would never do such a thing as steal apps from Verizon!
I just don't want to have to be bothered with getting reimbursed. I'll tell everyone how I did it.
If they use my info to perform the illegal functions of pirating software, then I can't be held accountable.

downtown texas hold'em - unlimited (good consideriing its on a phone for us poker players)
like i want to get a different phone but they wont re-issue my apps to me. ONLY IF YOU GET A SWAP OUT YOU WILL GET A CREDIT. but what about an upgrade? im thinking about getting a VX 4500 for the speakerphone and i would like to move my apps too
what about taking the files out form the brew direrctory in the filesystem and then do "new file" and place them in on the new phone???
when i had nexsmell games were loaded by using files!
BTW: i know this isn't related but is there away to get some of the OEM rings out and load thm into different LG's my GF's phone has better ringers than mine. i want them

Only a select few of them.
On the vx6000, you can get:

and train.
Off of another LG phone... I wouldn't know.

The .mif file may vary from phoen to phone. It'll definitely vary between different types of purchases. Sadly, this is not a .mif file that even brew developers can edit. It's encoded/encrypted somehow... but this seems to be done by the phone itself.
The main file that needs to be cracked is the .sig file. All that needs to be done is to crack verisign. I think there are some big awards for doing such a thing. Well, I guess this doesn't need to be done if a loophole can be found...
Well, you outta start by getting everyone to post a hash of each of the files related to each app they have. e.g. the .mif and each file in the directory corresponding to that app. That would at least say which files for sure to drill into. From there, diffs can be started...
Other important information might be the handset esn, mdn, min, users soc sec number, credit card number, birthdate, er, nix those last 3 ...
In any case... good luck!

I'm guessing that the phone generates a key (probably its ESN) and uses that key to encrypt the file. All we need to discover is the encryption method, and then we can decrypt the file and encrypt it on another phone.
It has been done before. Don't let anyone fool you.

That's easier said than done considering that at least part of the encryption is done server side using mdern technology from verisign. I guess if verisign's stuff is cracked we'll have no problems.
Of course, if their stuff is cracked, we'll have larger worries to deal with....

The difference is that we have some info to use on our side. We know that the phone has something specific to it which it uses to encrypt the files. It's not the phone number, as people are unable to copy an app from one phone to the exact same phone when they upgrade thier account via insurance, or whatever.
It could be the ESN.
I'm guessing that there is a date stamp in the file which has to match the timestamp of the file on the phone (thus making it very hard indeed to copy an app from one phone to another.)
