i just got a new Sanyo Scp-5500 for Sprint on ebay but there is no ESN on the phone.

What are the ways that i can found the ESN for this phone? (so that i can use it right away)

Most likely because it was reported stolen and won't activate. But that's merely a guess, of course.

Yeah, you can call Sprint and tell them you've found a lost phone and you'd like to find out how you can return it to its rightful owner.

before you get all shook find out if it really is lost/stolen or if you got a legit phone w/o a ESN sticker (hey, shlt happens). Get your ESN from the phone info screen and call Sprint and tell the you are about to buy a phone and want to know if the ESN is clean. They will let you know and you can proceed from there.

I don't know but on my phone the ESN does not pop up on that screen and neither does my roommates and we both bought ours new from the sprint store.

Here is really how to check your DEC ESN AND YOUR HEX ESN:

When you see time and date:

Hit ##786 then the MENU/OK KEY

PRESS OK AGAIN

YOU WILL SEE THE REVERSE LOGISTIC SCREEN

CLICK ON DETAILS

THEN CLICK ON VERSION

YOUR DEC ESN WILL BE DISPLAYED AT TOP, AND THE HEX ESN IS RIGHT BELOW AND STARTS .........AFTER THE x. USUALLY STARTS WITH THE NUMBER 2.
