Ringtones for LG6000

I just got a cell phone and am very new to things. I would like some new ringtones to have and i have searched a long time on the web for sites that have free ones. Now i do not own a cable and am quite technologically challenged to figure out Bit and all of that. Ok, so i did find a website that had ringtones that you obtained by calling a number and then it would answer and ask you to dial the "pin number" specific for the ringtone. Afterwards, they would text you the ringtone or somehow put it on your phone. However, the site was compatible with just about every phone except LG 6000 which is what i have. Does anyone know of a website similar to this that is compatible with my phone?

I use www.gmail.com

The short answer:
Seriously though. You just need to search for midi files, and then send a blank email to your phone (eg. if your number was (999)999-9999 you would send it to 9999999999@vzwpix.com. Then open it up from your pix messaging (which is under the camera button, not the normal messaging.) Now click "Options -> save sound" and give it a name.

It might charge you .25 on your verizon bill to do this.

Does it work with any email server? I use Yahoo. And as for downloading midi files, someone once told me that all i have to do is re-name a music clip by puting ".mid" after it. Is this true?

Changing a file extension does not change the data; if you take an .mp3 and change the file extension to .mid it will be a misidentified MP3, not a MIDI. Some phones (4600 I think) will play .mp3's but, if I understand correctly, the BitPim version for that phone won't support the .mp3 file extension. For that reason they change the file extension to .mid (which BitPim will recognize) and upload it. Fortunately the phone is smart enough to recognize that it is an .mp3 and not a .mid and still play it. For the VX6000 this is unnecessary because it will recognize and play MP3's (and the mod version of BitPim recognizes .mp3). However, if you do send MP3's to your phone it is recommended that you do some converting to them (convert to mono and 32kbps, 22050 Hz and 30sec long "clip"). VX6000s can get quirky if you try to upload files that are too big.

Hmm, like i said i go through yahoo and this is the messege they sent back to me when i tried to send the midi

Sorry, I wasn't able to establish an SMTP connection. (#4.4.1)
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too
long.

i don't know if that makes a difference, or if anyone can tell me what i'm doing wrong

where are you sending the message to? near as I can tell you are getting a server error (looks like your local mail server can't talk to/find the server you are sending the message to).

I'm sending it to (mynumber)@vzwpix.com from my yahoo account. Is there something i need to establish on my phone to recieve it?

I've never had Yahoo give me that message when sending a ringer to my phone.

Trying sending a message to your phone using www.vzwpix.com and typing in your phone number, and adding a new sound (the ringer) to the message. That has never failed me.

Make sure the file is a ".mid" and not a ".midi" or a ".Mid" (all lowercase)
