Well... here is my question...
I have been a mobile user on and off) for about 2 years. Always with GSM.
When the Apple Newtons were out I could not buy one because of the cost. Now I got one. I am not a newton expert (I do not code for it) Just a power user
I wanted to know if there is a way to use my 8890's (or any mobile phone IrDA for that matter) to connect to the internet.
The Newton sports 2 kinds of web browsers and ftp, and email, and also has a WAP browser available,
I have the internet setup installed but I only have 3 options (modem, localtalk or serial) Modem as far as indicated requires a PCMCIA modem. I would get one (on ebay they are available for a cheap price). The problem is that these are USA modems, analog, and when I travel I cannot use em elsewhere cause phonelines abroad, or at least in greece, are digital
. I would buy a nokia cardphone but then I can only use it abroad, and considering todays "standards" carphones would be a little slow I think.
I know that one can hook up a modem to a "cell phone" but those cables were designed to the 51xx series I think, CDMA or TDMA before GSM hit the USA....
Is there any way of using my nokia 8890 with my newton 2100 to connect to the internet ? Any newton users or just experts out there ? All I pretty much need it for is email
(No desktop when I travel
no work...just play
)
any ideas ?
Thanks
Admiral
