Originally posted by mpbc48 That is not normal. AFAIK, Brewsky doesn't do anything with the original ringtones. I've used the RS cable #19, futuredial drivers and Brewsky without any problems at all. Both ringtones and wallpaper work fine. Telus ringtone plays Buddy Holly??? You didn't happen to re-name the file prior to uploading? Some strange things are happening with your phone. Are you sure you followed all of the instructions in these posts to the letter? Mike |

Originally posted by Kanookstr@boatf I had that problem the first time as well. If you do not see any of your existing ring tones in the right column of brewsky. then when you add tones from the left side, and hit upload, you will have only the ones you uploaded. the others will not show up, but they are taking up space. This is what I do. I first open bitpim and go see my ring tones. I then delete all of them using the bitpim program. Then I close bitpim, and open Brewsky. Now I add the new ring tones I want to the right column, (including the ones I had and wanted to keep) Now I upload them and there all there. You have to put all your ring tones in the Brewsky/ring tones directory first using windows explorer..ect. This way they will show up in the list when you open brewsky. Also when naming your ring tone files, you must not have any spaces.. example ACDCbackinBlack.mp3 If you want spaces, use the _ character example,,, ACDC_back_in_Black.mp3 Good luck |

Originally posted by wakarimasen Yeah, I got that upload/delete custom ringtones figured out no problem... I am talking about the built-in/stock/default, whatever you want to call them, ringtones. The oringinal ones that come preloaded on your phone. I can't find them through BitPim and I don't think they would ever show in Brewsky cuz they're probably located in a completely different directory than the downloaded/custom ringtones get uploaded to. These ringtones are built into my phone, and I'm not looking to delete them. I just want my phone to be able to 'see' them again. THESE ARE NOT CUSTOM RINGERS THAT I CAN SIMPLY OVERWRITE, NOR DELETE THROUGH BITPIM. Would someone be so kind as to send a default_snd.txt (not download_snd.txt) to me? c_heine(at)hotmail.com. I believe this will help me. Thanks |

Did you put Buddy Holly on your phone with bitpim or Brewsky? Mike |

Originally posted by Devileyezz LOL, I did the same thing you did wakar, and yes.. you can probably solve your problem with default_snd.txt. But sorry I can't help you out in this regard, as I absent-mindedly overwrote that one with another garbled file. All the best. |

Originally posted by wakarimasen Buddyholly was put on with Brewsky and works. Please, please, please someone post or mail me default_snd.txt to c_heine(at)hotmail.com. I am confident I can resolve this with that single file. I think Brewsky's great and love what it can do. I've got that figured out. I just want to fix my small screwup. Thank you. |

Put your ringtones in: C:\Program Files\Brewsky 8900\RingTones\ Put your wallpapers in: C:\Program Files\Brewsky 8900\Wallpapers\ Also, I have added menu tools to easily patch the Verizon Wireless ERI Banner. This was developed for a Verizon Wireless 8900, but I have added support hopefully for the others, including cellular south, telus and cricket. testing of those phones will be needed. please do so at your own risk. |

Some songs will not play on the phone, probably really intensive ones.... For me, Supertramp, Bloody Well Right just would not play properly on the phone. Start with some simple generic midi files, like the ringtones you can download for free. I WISH people will please start declaring their phone, carrier, and software before whining about what doesn't work. Then anyone with an inkling of an idea will be able to guestimate a response. |

Originally posted by R_Andersen I've been using brewsky for a while now with my Verizon 8900 and I can upload ringtones fine and download pictures. The problem is with wallpapers. I can upload wallpapers to the phone and they show up in the 'cell phone' side of Brewsky. I can also see teh uploaded files in BitPim under the brew\shared\images directorym but they do not show up in the phone. I have entered the 'Get It Now' menu and also tried rebooting the phone but they still will not show up in the phone. I've also tried uploading both .jpg and .png files and neither will show up on the phone. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob |

Originally posted by tjandt I'm not sure what level of detail you're going in to to replicate the wallpaper file that comes with Brewsky, but here's what I did. I opened the L.png file with JASC Paint Shop Pro and got the image information: 128x145 pixels 28 pixels/CM 24/16 million pixel depth/colors. I took the picture I wanted to use as a wallpaper, cropped it, then resized it to 128x145 pixels, 24 bit color. I took that picture and did the upload with Brewsky, went into Get it Now, exited Get it Now, and it was available as a wallpaper. You will find the wallpaper (on Verizon phones), in the Media Gallery (Menu Option 6), under Images, then Graphics. Hope this helps, Tim |

Originally posted by PackCat That is the word that has been handed down since the beginning of this thread. You are free to do whatever you like, but that is what the more techno-savy users have said for a while now. All I am saying, to combine both of our logics, is: that software for the 8900 is iffy at best. I stand by what I said, as it was intended for new users. |
|
Originally posted by Zaediex Feel free to use 0.62 if you like. Just be warned that when downloading files that are less than 256 bytes, like many of the index files are before they have a few records in them, you will be getting garbage memory from the heap tacked on the end of your file. If you are unaware that this garbage is being added and you do not remove it you will likely lock up the handset. Honestly, new users are MUCH better off using a newer version since it will decrease their chances of bricking their handset. The 8900 is exremely stable if treated with care. But in order to do that you need to be using the appropriate tools. BitPim 0.62 is not the appropriate tool.[/B] |

Originally posted by PackCat 0.7.20 causes an exception error on my computer and some of the other versions since 0.7.16 do as well. Everyone should use whatever version works best for them. Disclaimer: I approve of this message, but that does not necessary mean that it is technically correct... Only that I have attempted to explain what may be somewhat of a mystery to 'some' users... If anyone else wants to also jump into the fray and lend their expertise or to fine-tune my analysis, that would be welcomed. Also, I am not suggesting to use BitPim as your primary application for ringtone download. (to the phone) |
