I just got a NEC N8/525/313 etc USB data cable through the post today. It came with the NEC N8 CD with memory editor and USB drivers.

I have followed the instructions accordingly and when i have connected my phone, installed drivers and loaded up memory editor i choose COM 3 - The port assigned the the Phone. After clicking finish i just get the message "The operation completed successfully." The program dowsnt load at this point which it should, according to instructions.

Please help me out guys

This memory editor thing is the most confusing thing ever! It took me a week to figure it out, because my brain was ready to explode! I'm not sure if I can help you, but it sounds like we have had the same problems. I had to go into the device manager, first to make sure that the drivers were installed, and second to see what com ports the phone modem is hooked up on. You have to cklick on the modem selection, and the phone will be listed there now also. My problem was it seemed to be changing. I have a multiport universal usb hub. I had to remove my other plugs, and put the phone plug in the first position for the port assignment to remain stationary. And then, by God...lo and behold...it actually worked! If I can be of any help...just write back! Martie

The memory editor is supposed to be a waste of time...

Try and find a programme called Personal Information Editor 3 which is for the E314i but works with the E525 - gimmie ur email and I'll send it off to you...

Any chance you could send me the drivers for the E525 (using windows 2000) ?????

Hi,

I've been having problems with the Memory Editor
so looked around and found if you go to the aussie site u can download PIE 3 worked for me.

http://www.necmobile.com.au/mobiles/e525/index.html

For the usb driver try nechdm.com/525.asp go to toolbox and sync software, took time to get the ports sorted but at last it's working.
Now then who can I ask about getting the phone unlocked from O2??

Loz

Thanks for the link to the drivers !!

I think that if you want your phone unlocked you just phone up o2 and they give you the necessary codes - think it costs about £30. You could also try taking it into a mobile phone repair shop and they could be able to do it for cheaper.... !!
