a little more specfic info please
Normal, you tolds nothing except to go on
which phone
which cable ? generic , off brand, future dial, mok
which program won't work, which version of that program
bitpim has many versions
qpst only one versio
ganin ?

you told us the phone and qpst, but not which cable and drivers
you guys did buy the USB to Serial conversion cable right
the one with the box in the middle of the cable
because that's the one you need, the LG phones seem to have a rather flaky version of USb internal and don't work so well on straight USB cables

to paraphrase a little bit
BitPim is a strange Puppy
some people have to have the computer off and evrythin plugged in then turn on the computer and run bipim
others my self included
find that out laptops fuction better if we bootup and run bitpim then plug the cable into the computer..
I suspect it has to due with which version of USB you have on your computer 1 or 2 and whose chips are the USB interface..
try both ways
also check the control panel systems, hardeware, you want the cable to show up as a serial interface com #
if it shows as a USB device everytime you plug it in
you will need to uninstall the drivers and go thru the install again
this seems to happen more often with download drivers than with the ones that come on in the MOK on the CD's
I think this is mainly a procedural think
they have to be installed before you ever plug the cable into the computer..
or windows automatically trys to set the cable up as a USB device instead of a serial device

OK I went to Radio Shack and got the cable that was recommended and all went well Transfering everything now with no problem.
If I would of read all this before jumping the gun and buying a cable off e bay would of saved mysel 15 bucks wel as they say live and learn mostly learn
