New Bitpim 0.7.14

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Jamos

Just returned to this forum after being away for quite a while...
I just downloaded a new version of Bitpim, v.0.7.14 that looks to have been just released on 7/9/04.

what do people think of this version in use w/a VX6000?

the links for the fixed version of 0.62 weren't working, so i am giving the new version a try.

Is there any reason i should dump it and try to find v.0.62 still?

thanks.

I'm spreading the word.

I don't know about the new version of bitpim, but I've just put up the old patched versions back in the sticky thread.

Go to my post in the sticky thread

I've been using my new 6000 with a Future Dial cable and the new version 7.14 for 5 days and I've had no problems uploading wallpapers, mp3 (renamed as mid) ringtones, editing the Version Banner or editing and uploading my phone book. I don't see the need for the patched 0.62 file..?? I vote use the newest release. All is good here.

I'm a newbie and version 7.14 was the first I installed....no problems noted....wallpapers, mp3's....no problems. Why use an older version for the 6000?

Posted by: hotrod

That's what I'm saying. Everyone still seems to be talking about hacked old versions when the current release works great. I say use 7.14 dump the hacked 62.

it works great with the LG VX7000 too

The old version didn't require you to rename *.mp3 files to *.mid. You could just put an mp3 file on your phone with an mp3 exstension.

(for the vx6000)

can someone link me to the newest version of it
and if you don't mind, can you link me to anyother s/w needed, like to get mp3's on the cell and such

thanks a lot for any help

Too lazy
Direct links are so much easier
So is it confirmed that the newest version .7 works great?

Posted by: blazer380

omg and i thought that I was lazy.... direct link is only good until a new version comes out.... then it will be 404

forget BitPim, start using this awesome program:

If you jump to QPST (which is the actual program that any phone using the QualComm chipset uses...)

Make sure you phone has all the ringtones/wallpapers etc... already working and listing correctly.

Otherwise, when you add ringtones/wallpapers... the QPST program will list them but your phone will NOT.

If everything is working fine, you should be good to go.

I have both programs and QPST is def. much better.

Posted by: BigTwin

I installed QPST and I'm trying to ready from my phone (VX6000)...it wants me to enter the service code....the 000000 does not work for me...any ideas on what the service code may be (US Cellular)

Posted by: Cyberspy

Verizon left the code at 000000, I don't know what US Cellular chaged it to.

Maybe a US Cellular customer can help you out.

Posted by: blazer380

there are some codes listed here:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...threadid=417817

Posted by: BigTwin

I tried all of those codes and some others....when you enter too many wrong codes, the phone locks up.

Any US Cellular customers figured out the SPC?

Posted by: cellman2424

if its such a good program how come it dosent tell you the SPC?

Posted by: BigTwin

Yeah, I know....prob would be a good proggie if I could get the SPC.....I've looked at the phone's directory using bitpim, hoping the SPC might be there...I haven't found it...surely some US Cellular customer has discovered it...

What can you do with the QPST?

Posted by: Cyberspy

QPST is the actual program used by phone manufacturers that use the Qualcomm chipset inside their phones (usually there is a sticker on the back on these phones that say "Qualcomm 3G CDMA"... Audiovox, LG etc...)

It's like computers run on Intel processors..... it's what's inside...

You can configure the entire phone using QPST although, if you exceed the storage limits of the phone... LOOKOUT... ex: you upload one too many mp3's etc....

It locks most phones up to the point that you have to get a new one, or have it flashed at the local dealer store.

BitPim is working just fine for me although I've used both.

Yeah I think I did that to my phone. One too many ringtones and poof. The phone would not start. Had to get a new one.
