on the phone under voice services there is a button that shows screen call. then it gives you the option for auto and announcement. under announcement it shows pre-recorded and custom. what is this option and what does this pertain to.

My 8200 has this too (as did my old Samsung A310 and T300).
What it does is it'll automatically answer the phone after X number of seconds and play either the prerecorded greeting or a custom greeting for your caller. You'll be able to hear the caller leaving the message if you want (either through the earpiece of the speakerphone) so that way you can listen to see if you want to talk to them. It's basically a built in answering machine in your phone. It'll use up your minutes though since the caller is actually leaving the message in the phone and unlike voice mail. I used to use the one in my T300 and A310 when I had Verizon FreeUp because I was charged for incoming voicemails left and also for checking voice mail from the phone. This let me eliminate having to call voicemail from my phone. It worked well but the problem on those Samsung phones was that the longest delay you could have was 10 seconds and most times I'd not be able to get the phone out quick enough if I did actually want to answer it.
