Sanyo RL 4920 Internet Connection

I just recently purchased a Sanyo RL 4920. I also just purchased a data cable for it. Whenever I call Sprint PCS to find out about using the phone to connect to the internet, they are clueless and tell me that I need to contact third party vendors for software. I have found some info about PC Sync. Does anyone have any ideas of suggestions or any similiar experiences?

Does the connect go thru an 800 number if the phone is acting as a modem or does the phone connect to the web using Sprint's Vision connection?

Thanks so much for your help and suggestions. John

They're clueless because they do not condone or endorse the idea of using your phone as a wireless modem with the vision service. such use can cause sprint to terminate your service. however, someone i know within sprint says that "Casual" use will go unnoticed. try purchasing futuredial software from futuredial.com or radioshack.

once your computer recognizes your phone plugged into it via usb and assigns it a com port you should just be able to make a regular dial up connection, the phone number to use for a data connection is ... #777 ... you would put just that in the phone number and then hit dial it should sync up and connect pretty quick... you would have a direct connection to the net via vision sorta and should be able to browse websites etc, i would recommend against high usage as they (sprint) will most likely cancel your vision, however low usage like checking email viewing a few websites/instant messanger occassionaly would probably be ok.
