hey guys, planning on getting the cx65 im just a little worried about the multimedia downloads for it such as wallpaper and ringtones. I know this phone has 40 chord so does that mean that I can use the same mmf ringtones i use on my samsung? and also what type of wallpaper and theme file does it support???

Posted by: molna

MMF is not supported.
Use MID or WAV instead.

As wallpaper, you can use almost anything, JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG for example.
The Themes is a ZIP-file containing images and a XML-document, very easy to make your own.

Thanks molna, im still considering it over the t630 but im just a little worried about the number of bugs reported about the phone on other forums though and there dont seem to be that many sites with themes for the cx65

The T630 has only ONE thing in advance to the CX65, that's Bluetooth. If you don't need that, get the CX65.
(more memory, better camera, faster, MUCH better display, easier interface, faster GPRS, more customizable, better e-mail and MMS, video-recording, addressbook, loudspeaker, SMS-zoom, MIDP2,0 etc...)

Themes will come, just give it some time. I have a site myself and will have a section with usermade themes.

thanks for your info molna, just one more question, does the latest firmware offerd by siemens on thier website fix all the bugs on the phone?? and can i download and transfer data through IR?? thanks

There is no firmware upgrade available yet, but should go online pretty soon now.

You can transfer anything you like through IR on the CX65 (as long as you don't get a branded phone, like Vodafone etc. They might be blocked)

hi! just got the cx65 and it is, imho, a great phone! considering the price, i can forego bluetooth and mp3s for the moment. my phone fw version is ver 8 and from what i know it is the latest but i sometimes experience some bugs such as the ir icon on top still displayed in spite of me turning it off and the phone sometimes hangs when i make some setting changes but i guess it is relatively stable. one question is, i only noticed after a few days that my phone does not have a photo editor! i know i can just go back to the siemens concept shop to have it installed but any way i can just download and install it myself?

btw, i connect my phone to my pc via ir only. relatedly, is there any relaible data suite software i can use aside from the mpm? it is a bit buggy for me. tia!

Can the photos taken on the phone be send to a PDA through the IrDA? Taberds, how do you like the phone so far? No one has mention anything about RF performance.

aside from the lack of bluetooth capability and an mp3 player, the phone is great overall. even though the fw is ver 8, there are still some minor bugs that i guess needs to be fixed. but generally a great phone and for me a steal at its current price.

one minor irritant for me however is that i get an error whenever i run the photo editor application software. should have been more careful in checking the phone out when i was buying it. anyways, i will just have it checked at the nearest siemens center this weekend.

the cx65 is definitely a great buy!
