Messing with broken 8900...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I was fooling around with my dad's messed up 8900 (he gave it to me after he dropped it in the pool, after which the battery/charging/various buttons/etc) were very messed up.
So, I decided to have some fun...
I just changed the settings and stuff, my options being limited in that the END key is broken.
After a while I was playing around in bitpim and think I accidentally deleted the mms '1' file (something like that).
Now I have the endless restart, except sometimes I get the 'forgotfilename.c' error, but I've mostly been getting "User data reloading [1]" (something like that). Also, it'll vibrate randomly

If you have any ideas, please tell me. If not, I have a messed up phone that I can perform experiments on (if you want me to try anything just tell me )
Thanx

Anyone?

I tried connecting in bitpim... And it say's that the port is avalible right when the boot-music starts playing, but I get the mode transitioning error when I try to connect.
Also, the error I've mostly been getting is about uixcm.c line 466, could someone check what it is?
Thanx

I know you're all here..... any ideas...?

I guess noone has replied because they figure it's a lost cause seein how you can't connect through bitpim.

Well could someone post the file?

It's odd tho that bitpim thinks it can connect... I get the "transitioning from mode none to brew" error.

From my experience, the phone is gone. Happened on my phone too, think I deleted a pic using Bitpim and shouldnt have, took it back to verizon, they couldnt fix it so swapped me a new one.

When we went to get it replaced... they said we should've bought the insurance, and the best they could do was sell him a crappy phone on the "oops" plan for $100 or pay full price on a different phone. We called in to verizon and because my dad has been a customer for 13 years they said they can give him the samsung (non-camera flip) for $30 or less, so that's good.

Don't want to throw out the phone, seems werid, but I can't really do anything with it...

=T that sucks but its ok you get the samsung! well dont throw it away...maybe you can sell it on ebay for cheap or something. or take it apart. or if you have a warranty you can get a new one from audiovox
