Found detials of Sanyo 4700 undergoing FCC testing with a Sprint logo on it. The phone will use 1xRTT data rates. It looked identical to the 4500 but with a shinny silver face.

And still only a Dual Mode.

howard posted info on it a long while back ... check the news archives ..

it has 1x support?!?! .. cool!

Didn't remember seeing a previous news posting on it. Oh well.

Sprint Technically only NEEDS dual mode. If I remember correctly, they are 1900 MHz across the board...Verizon is another story though.

So why the Analog then? Wouldn't a single mode work just as well (and be cheaper, and smaller)?

True about sprint, they use 1.9 throughout their entire network so no need for tri-mode unless travelling into Canada.
