its a program used mainly to add ringtones and pictures to your phone, vx 6000 i know it covers. its a cheaper alternative if ur crazy about pics and ringtones. Otherwise with out the cable u can always pix message it to urself. ex. 7185551234@vzwpix.com with attachment of a midi or bmp. Only downside is that u cannot add mp3 ringtones or take away the verizon logo. It also lets u go into the file system which i found to be useless for other things than anything i mentioned

I just downloaded BitPim last night and was up and running with it in minutes. (I already had the Verizon Mobile Office USB cable and drivers.) It allows you to copy your contacts from Outlook or a .csv file, and gives you an interface on your PC to update them, as well as a calendar.
You can also copy ringtones and images very easily between your phone and PC. You can use MP3 files as ringtones if you change the file extension to .mid. Using (free) Audacity sound editing software, I was able to take songs and edit out small pieces of them to create my own ringtones, and they sound amazing on the phone. I have several friends who are musicians, so now when they call me, the personalized ringtone is a clip of one of their songs. Pretty cool.
I haven't tried any of the more complicated file system manipulations, and I might not.
