i need to find a place to host mp3 ringtones so i can put them on my sisters sprint 8100. i hear with the data cable you cant transfer ringtones so i need a place to host them. or is there a way to make mp3 into .mid without losing quality?

umm, an mp3 cannot be made into a midi file. They're 2 completely different formats. An MP3 is an audio file, while MIDI is performance data. You can use audio files as a ringer using the qcp format, but i don't know how to use that. I'd look for a conversion program for qcp, and then use www.t1mmy.net to put it on her phone.

so in order to transfer ringtones.. u would have to purcahse the datacable.?

you only need the data cable if you want to transfer ringtones FROM the phone. To put them on, use the www.t1mmy.net site to upload your file and then download it with your phone

i used your technique i went into windows media player and opened the mp3 and hit save as and changed it to qcp, then it sent it to my phone but i got data error 703, server error after sending. what does this mean??

You don't need a cable. If you have Sprint Vision plan, use below URLs to wirelessly upload songs or pics to your phone for free.

Just do a google search on midi songs, of which there are tons for free. If possible, using a midi editor (ie. anvil studio - freeware), trim the songs to 25secs to save space (not that they're that big), since that's the length of 4 rings before it goes to voicemail.

Same goes for jpg pics. Use your own or from the net, but resize them to the resolution of your phone's screen (use Win XP's built-in feature or a pic app) to save space.
