PST wont recogonize COM3

Hey everyone,
Sorry to be a bother, but I've run a search as well as look through the FAQ (which have more than enough steriotypes of noobs not using the search feature or looking through the FAQs) and I cant find the solution to my problem.
Im trying to get games onto my v600 using the USB cable, so I downloaded the PST Phone Programmer. Whenever I open it up, it wont recongnize my cell phone despite the fact the the MPT can. I noticed when I got into setup, that it will only allow me to manually select COM ports 1 and 2.
The motorola modem is set on COM3 but the PST software wont let me select COM3 nor will it see it when it auto-detects. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Ray

If you're trying to get games on there, screw pst and mpt and go with midway.

From what I understood, you needed PST to unlock some KJava thing. Can you do it with just midway?

Midway wont see my phone either. It wont let me connect to COM3. This is occuring on 2 different computers.

Websurfer54 is correct in what he says - you must unlock the Java loader with PST before using MIDway to load games. It'd be nice if you could do it with MIDway but it's just not possible.

Leave autodetect on.

First, play with the cable a bit. Unplug it and replug it into your phone. Same for the computer end of the cable.

Second, open up your System properties (Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> System). Go to your device manager (this will vary by OS). Check under modems. Is your V600 there? If not, you installed drivers incorrectly OR your phone is connected wonky. Yes, it's possible. I've had to unplug and replug my cable a few times and it's an OEM Moto cable.

Third, what OS are you using? USB support in Win98/SE is notoriously a strange animal and if you mess up the drivers, you're in for a world of trouble.

You don't need PST to add the Java App Loader to your phone. It's possible to do it through seem editing. Mind you, may be a little more trouble, but it's possible to do it if PST is giving you problems. See xlr8's page. http://xlr8.us/hofo/map.txt

I've tried unplugging and replugging it in several times. In fact I've done so on 2 diff computers. In running windows xp and when i enter the control pannel and look at "Phone and Modem Options" the modem is listed there and is listed as COM3. I dont beleive thats the problem, because I can still connect to my phone with MPT and have been loading and unloading photos without a problem.
Also, when I attempted to use Midway just to try and connect to my phone, it also only allowed me to select either COM1 or COM2, but still NOT COM3.
Thanks for all your help so far!

I noticed that in the above post that refrences to the hex guide, that you can use P2Kseem and other utils to edit things. I plan on purchasing a bluetooth adapter tonight since the USB cable Im using now is a loaner. Would these programs require seperate drivers for the bluetooth adapter, or is it all the same once I install the MPT?

Did you apply all the patch files for PST? Midway allows me to choose up to Port 256... I don't know why it would only limit you to ports 1 and 2. If you've tried it on different computers, it could be the programs you're using. Where did you download it from? I got my programs from http://www.************/

For those of us not fluent in Spanish (not a rip on you, skorpien), SoulBlade814 has made a very large list of Vxxx exploits, hacks, downloads, Hofo threads etc. which includes the programs you need.

I think what's going on is that MIDway only lets him select COM 1 and 2. He can get to 256 but it gives him an error (as it should!).

My guess is either PST was patched improperly OR the drivers are installed incorrectly.

yes yes must update that file lol.... and if it only allows you to choose com 1 and 2 why dont you just plug it in com 1 and com 2 ? lol... you can plug whatever was in com 1 and 2 in com 3 and 4... now a days I'm sure your given like 4-6 usb ports...

1 and 2 are serial ports - can't get into them via USB unless your BIOS allows you to reassign your serial COM ports. Even then, that's not really getting you anywhere.

okay, I agree that the com 1 and 2 are serial port most commonly associated with a hardware modem connected via PCI slot inside the computer. however the software I would think, should let you change and select a comport other than those two? My phone is also showing up to com3 as it should because my other two ports are obveously used. How do I make the software recognize com3 in adition to the rest of them? Any help would be greatly apriciated. I havn't really messed with it but for about 20 minutes so far cuz I just got hte phone yesterday. but I am hoping to work on it tonight. hope someone here can give me some pointers. Thanks.
