yo calm down dude, there are 28 pages to this thread, if you wanted to waste the time searching for one that worked then you go right ahead, but i dont sit on here for hours at a time reading endlessly for a link that works. Plus at first i didnt realize there were 28 pages. I posted after reading the first few posts and trying the link. I figured the link was posted and it was and old thread. Get over it.

"yo, calm down dude"

I agree. Gee wiz! this kid takes more time telling people to read
the thread than helping!!
what a dope. is that what he's most concerned with?
my advice hlk, stop clogging the thread with scoldings. possibly this
thread would've thinned out a bit more.
I think it also says in the FAQ of this forum NOT to post "go read" posts.
If you're not going to help, do not post.

Posted by: Gidget

as far as i know the website we all get the program for and the tutorials are from him (i may be wrong) so i believe that is helping and if i am right then he has helped the most (if iam sorry to ho ever created the site dont mean to give ur credit to someone else)

Posted by: Syracuseplaya5

exactly john daddy.....i'm sorry i didnt go through and read all 400 and some posts looking for the link that worked......and I dont care if the program comes from him or not, it's not the only place on the web to get it, he doesnt have to be a brat about it just cause someone didnt feel like searching through this thread for it.

Did you port your number to VZW?

siiiiighhhhh. sorry to bug u pros but i read up to page 19 and oculdnt bring myself to finish the rest.

basically i have a audiovox CDM-8910 (bell) and a USB cable from the Ebay store.

i have the future dial drivers and have tried bitpim and brewsky (dont work worth a didily **** crap)

now im trying this and it seems much better (practically set up the ports on its own)

When you port your number, VZW assigns you a billing number in additional to your ported number. So there is actually 2 phone numbers on your account. One is for calling, and one is for billing. It's kinda weird how they have it set up.

Posted by: JohnDaddyo

ahh, that IS strange. Funny thing is that was the number QPST
was seeing and not mine!

i waas uploading the gif on my phone through qpst and it didnt work and now my phone is frozen at the verizon wireless opening screen, i take the the bat out and turn it back on but its still on the same screen... any ideas???

Posted by: automatron

ok
can somebody just give it to me straight, without me reading dozens of pages of messages?

I found the URL http://www.lgphone.info/
and I think the app is called unwrapper or something.
its a .rar file, which I have no idea how to open (windows me). is this like a zip file?

please. Ive had my vx6000 for over a year, lost my files and now trying to get things back on track.

if one of you well informed types wanna just make a sticky on this, it could be really helpfull.
thanks
-sp

ps. try not to rip me a new one if this was posted on page 23 or something.

Posted by: automatron

oops, it already is sticky.
still, reading 200+ messages to get the right info is pretty tough.
thanks, its appreciated

I'm guessing that you want the QPST_7.zip file. That is what this thread is mostly about. You can also try the bitpim-0.62-forVX6000setup.exe for your LG 6000, or just go and download the latest version of bitpim, which should work for your 6000.

Posted by: stunt540

Does anyone knows which software is compatible to Samsung MM A700 Sprint and where can I get it from also I need the USB cable that it connects to it. I already got one off eBay and its not compatible.

Thanks Stunt 540

You can download it and many other useful programs from www.lgphone.info

Posted by: bogie3434

I want to personally thank Howard and all the members who gave the correct necessary info for the LG VX 6000 & 6100 so that I was able to upload and download ringers, wallpapers, address book, etc. using the straight USB cable.

Posted by: blazer380

Wow... i have done it! There is something WAY better than BitPim! Its the official software used by Qualcomm to mess with their phones. I tried this on a LG VX7000 Phone

Download it here:

(Look throught this thread, many people have posted links to QPST file)
If you are a premium member at www.mp3ringtones4u.com, you can download it there.

its 7.19 MB

To put files on and off including ANIMATED GIFS, here are the instructions:

im soo happy ... omg... ok.. u install this program QPST.
then plug in your phone to USB cable into PC

then go to Start > Programs > QPST > QPST Configuration

then click on Ports Tab: u will see com1 and com2
click on Add and type in COM4 for both places
it will then show COM4 Enabled and will show your phone info
Close that and go back to Start > Programs > QPST > EFS Explorer

Then it will show your phone, click OK
u will see Please Wait..... takes 10 seconds
Then u will see the directory just like in Brew.
Go to dload/img
Rightclick in there and choose New
pick the animated gif file and say ok
After that, go to dload dir and delete image.dat
close EFS explorer
Turn off / on your phone
Go to wallpapers, and set the new gif as wallpaper
AND VOILA!!!!

NOTE : If you close EFS Explorer, it will say something like, Do you want to reset your phone, just Say YES, and it will reboot your phone.

Hi blazer! Im having some trouble loading gif on to my phone (lg vx7000) you have previously said that it is possible and you also said you can help with vx7000 problems.

I get as far as loading it onto my cell. I did what you said up till the point when you said "load the gif" I just clicked on the load button, went to my .gif file and restarted my phone. Its not anywhere on here!!

PLEASE HELP ME GET ANIMATED GIFS ONTO LG VX7000

Thanks

Posted by: blazer380

you have to use QPST (not bitpim) to drag the file into dload/img folder, then delete a file called images.dat in the dload folder. then restart the phone

Posted by: Cell Phone Guy

I got it to play the gif file but it doesent fit in my whole screen. How do I fit it to the fullest?

By the way, thanks a lot and this program is awsome!!

Posted by: blazer380

the phone doesnt stretch the gif, so find one that is 176x184 or a factor of those numbers.

and 91x80 for the outer screen...

Posted by: Cell Phone Guy

Wow!!! THis program is awsome!!!! Thanks blazer!! you are the man!

Is this also able to send movies? THat would b awsome!

Posted by: blazer380

ya, it does movies too, in .3g2 format (maybe .mov)

HELP!
I have a vx 4400 and I already download the QPST program. I search for th spc in bitpim and tried in my phone manually and it works but, first: went I open QPST the phone number that appear in the program isn't my number and when I used the Explorer, it told me that the spc is incorrect. Please, I know that isn't easy but I will apreciate your effort.

Alright, listen up people.

I hope I don't get punished by the mods for being an a**hole here, but you people are LAZY.

The answers to most of your questions have been answered on every single page of this thread.

You can find the frickin' program by doing a google search for the filename. I too was met with a broken link when I read the first post, but I had googled and downloaded the program BEFORE I MOVED ON TO THE SECOND POST IN THIS THREAD.

Now, I just sat here and read EVERY SINGLE POST in this thread hoping to see what other cool things people have used this program for (maybe cool stuff like boosting your signal power or other neat tricks). But instead, I had to wade through post after post, written by lazy people who won't just friggin' browse through the last page or two for the info they want.

You all claim that your time is too valuable to waste on a quick search, but do you really think you're saving time by posting the same lame question and checking back here every five minutes to see if someone has answered??

NOW....

this program obviously wasn't written to just copy ringtones and pictures. What can we use this for to get full functionality of our equipment? Anyone found any cool tricks?

Just wanted to ask if this method of using QPST to add animated GIF wallpapers to the phone would work for the LG 4700 or 4650. Don't want to fool around with deleted stuff from the phone unless i'm sure it would work.

If so, can someone leave step-by-step instructions for doing this.

Check out DataPilot by Susteen. This is a "cell phone transfer suite" that can transfer phonebooks, ringtones, images, etc from PC to phone. It will run you about $60 and you can buy it at Circuit City or Best Buy.

Thanks,
This is what I am going to try. If it dont work at least I can sell it on ebay.

Can anyone assist please. I already know how to create ringtones and edit them I just need the software that connect to this phone. If any one needs any speacial ringtones let me know

I feel quite confident that the post was in no way intended to be helpful.
The icon is irrelevant to his post.
The definition of it is "cool" I don't think so.
Quite the opposite.
He obviously just picked an icon he thought was uhhh, cool.

Here is a strange concept, if your post is not going to help, don't bother. Many respectable forums use that as a "Golden Rule"

"There was an error enabling COM4. The port may not be working properly or may be busy. (-2147467259)"

help please!!?!?

Posted by: TakenAback

Hmm, maybe try 5?

Also, if you haven't already, reboot after installation, but before connecting the phone. I had the same busy message when I tried connecting before rebooting.

Posted by: TakenAback

Incidentally, is there some way to have QPST retain the last SPC entered?

I also notice that this thread is in a LG subforum. Can a moderator move it to some other, and add sticky links to the LG, Audiovox, and other relevant forums?

It's wrong to confine it to the LG one, since this software is for Qualcomm chipset based phones, not just LG.

A lot of people are missing out.

Does anyone know if animated screensavers will work on an LG 5550 phone or does it use a different animated file extension? I have successfully saved the .gif and deleted the brewimage.map file or whatever it was called reset my phone and the .gif file won't show up on the phone. I know it has the capability because it already has 2 animated screensavers, just can't locate them in the file directory. Can anyone give me their 2 cents worth?

Okay, I seem to have found a link. I was bored. It's silly that the first post says "WAREZ LINK REMOVED" - what, do the cell manufacturers not want people actually USING the phones they bought and paid for? A slave of the cell provider? Screw that ****. ****, Verizon won't even update my firmware, which would solve problems I'm having accessing THEIR god damn data network (read: THEM losing money because I have to back-door my phone to get data on/off it). Unfortunately I still can't find the LG Download program to update this thing's damn firmware. Hopefully QPST will be what I'm looking for. Or be less bloated than BitPim. Or faster. Something!

Hi, I new to this forum and have a couple of questions. I have configuered QPST to Com6 which is the Com port for my Bluetooth conection to the VX8100. The Phone is detected but the Phone type is "Unknown" all the other information pops up when I use the EFS Explorer. My File tree downloads perfectly. But If I go to the Service programing client, then it states Phone model unknown, please pick a Base Phone model. So my Questions are:
1) am I missing something? and
2) Does anyone know what the base model number is for the VX8100?

Thanks in advanced for any help anyone can provide.

The moderators don't want links posted so obviously, because they could get some unkind feedback from certain parties.

If you don't see a link in this thread, just look more carefully.

answer to this is you need build 141 not any earlier

Unfortunately, it's not allowed to post that here. It often leads to bannings, abusings, public lynchings, and other such humiliating items. Googling is your best friend, in this case. (And that's the "google" verb which is tightly coupled to the word "search" in popular lexicon. Use as in, "I found this cool download by googling for a well known term.")

The 8100 is an excellent phone and it uses the same Qualcomm chipset as the 8000 so it will work just fine, as far as I know, with QPST.

The fact that Howard Forums was so lame to remove the link to the 'WAREZ' is really pathetic. No forum site can be held responsible for what users post, that is how so many of the warez sites stay in operation, they are forums.

And what's more pathetic is that there is actually ppl in the community who support this kind of censorship. Do you guys think QualComm will give you a medal for being good citizens and respecting their copyright?!

It just disgusts me to no end, how people think. If you all love respecting copyrights and banning 'warez' then why won't you all just download the music from ur carrier? Oh yea, it's too expensive. Well it's copyright infringement.

Oh whoops, I forgot! You all just wanted to customize your phone with things your carrier couldn't offer! My bad! Oh and of course, all your personally recorded sounds you made yourself on your computer!

No matter how you want 2 cut it, it is extremely hypocritical for this forum to support the breaking of copyright, and on the other hand, ban it.

I get the "There was an error enabling Com4. The port may not be working properly or may be busy(2147467259)" message. Here's what I've tried thus far...

-enabling any com port up to 11
-trying with any variety of having the phone or cable connected or disconnected.
-rebooting both the computer and phone
-disabling the com ports installed in qpst
-installing qpst on a different system (both are XP pro)
-installing qpst before or after installing drivers for the cable (a KQ-u8a cable)

The phone is an LG 535 from telus, has a CDMA 3g sticker on the side of it... the cable installs as com4 on one system and com11 on the other... bitpim will recognize this phone as an unlisted cdma (won't allow you to edit anything) and datapilot will interface with it properly as well (but it's super limited for this phone).

Any help at this point would be great. Thanks

Posted by: LG_535

nevermind, I figured it out- Gah, so simple.... when it asked for the port I was putting "4" not "COM4".... So dumb- sorry all.

the QPST program knows the phone is there but its asking me for the service programming codes before i can do anything. does anyone know how to get it?
LG MM 535

Posted by: TakenAback

Firstly, ask in the LG forum for someone to post the SPC and MSL for that model on your carrier. (You have to mention the specific carrier)

On the other hand, if BitPim works with your phone, you could create a thread in the LG forum asking which file on it has your SPC and MSL. You can then copy that file to your HD with BitPim.

There may even be a way to display the SPC and MSL on the phone, but I don't know much about LG models and codes.

QPST asks for the SPC, but in my experience it's the MSL that works, not the SPC, so try that when you get it.

Good luck.

Posted by: Nightman1

Is there a way to enable the web browser in QPST? For some reason my web browser gives the error "service unavailable" as soon as I click the browser. The error comes up instantly, and it doesn't even try to connect to the wap network. Gotta be a setting in the phone. I have an LG VX6100.

If you have bitpim and It finds your phone go to the FILE SYSTEM Tab. once there click the + symbol, next go to +nvm and click it, then +nvm again, next go to nvm_0000 on the second line down there should be a group of 6 numbers that is your "secret menu" code also if you forgot you regular lock code its under nvm_0002 about the 8th line down 4 digits. Now this worked on my UX4750 and i ve done it a couple a years ago with my 4400. I take no responsibility if you mess your phone up.
Let me know if I helped anyone so I can feel special too

The process is similar with Curitel/Audiovox phones, but all the codes are in the nvm_0002 file.

I was using QPST to transer MP3s for ringers when it froze. I unplugged the phone and forced QPST to end. When I attempted to reconnect to the phone it read the directory but a message states that the phone has been locked by another program and writing to the phone cannot happen until that lock is released...any word on how to unlock the phone? It is a VX4700 from Verizon. Thanks. jje

Posted by: TakenAback

There is a lock phone button in QPST. Did you click that?

Posted by: jedmonds

...no I did not. jje

Posted by: TakenAback

Are you using the MSL to connect to the phone?

Posted by: jedmonds

...sorry, tell me what MSL is...I open QPST Configuration to connect to the phone, then open or start the client EFS Explorer. Appreciate your help with this.....jje

Posted by: TakenAback

The MSL is a code that locks your phone to a certain carrier. In QPST, when you connect to the phone, there is a field with 6 zeroes. Although it asks for the SPC, it actuall is asking for the MSL.

I don't know your MSL, but it may be obtainable with BitPim. If your phone has one, download the nvm_0002 file off the phone (in nvm/nvm), and open it in Notepad, and find the second six digit number. That's the MSL.

Unlike BitPim, QPST was not meant to be released to the public. New versions will leak out when those who have them get drunk enough to post them somewhere.

You can do most of what you want with either program, but QPST is preferred by some, including myself.

Posted by: bumpylemon

can someone walk me through or show me the thread that uses QPST so do ringtones...thanks

Posted by: TakenAback

I don't know the specifics for your model, but in general using QPST's EFS Explorer, you can browse to your ringtone folder, and either upload, or overwrite files.

Posted by: jedmonds

Ok...false alarm...after I forced QPST to end and re-booted, the program kept a copy of itself open only minumized...I did not notice the icon down in the system tray. When I started what was then a second session of QPST it evidently saw that the first session had a lock on the phone, not allowing me to write to the phone with the second session. After closing both sessions and then re-starting, everything worked just fine. Appreciate your thoughts on this though. Take care. jje

There is a 10 digit code that might allow users to see and modify their phone.

Will it work on the lg c1300i?

Posted by: kdozon

alright, so i've used qpst before but all of the sudden it doesn't want to work for me.. i can see all the files on my phone, but i can't copy them from or to my phone. so i reset my phone and everything, thinking something could have gone wrong.. and it still doesn't work. i do have little memory left on my computer, but even tried clearing my temporary folder and then using it.. still nothing works. do you think the space can be an issue? i also tried to uninstall and reinstall the program, still doesn't work. am i the only one who's ever had this happen? anyone have any suggestions?

Hey Angermanagement.....Very cool! I needed it too. Thanks...

Funny.

What's funnier is that Qualcomm could've implemented actual security measures if they didn't want this out there. The fact they didn't means they don't really care all that much. They'd prefer it wasn't, but they are stating a policy that protects them from liability to their customers. Those companies that they sell their chipsets to, don't want MSLs so easily accessed by the end user (among other reasons), and might hold Qualcomm responsible if they freely distributed this application.

If Qualcomm themselves were as pissed off as those who use their chipsets, they'd have implemented the use of product key authorization or something by now.

Lets see here. I've been messing with this program for a couple days and wanted to modify my Service Programming. In short I wanted to kill gpsONE. The problem is, QPST tells me "Roam file is empty" when I try and update my phone settings. I have a VX6000 with Verizon as a provider, and everything else seems to work with QPST and BitPim.(Except Verizon's asinine way of storing contacts) Anyone know of any fixes, or where I can get the Verizon roam files?

Thanks! I did read all 37 pages, but I missed it several pages back. To reiterate my question: On page 27 of this thread, there is a post on how to upload games to your LG phone. Does anyone know if this will work for a Motorola v260?

Of course, I can't seem to edit my previous post. *sigh*

Some, if not all,Qualcomm 3G chipset based phones, will have a clear sticker on the back somewhere staing that information. Other than that, looking up the FCC ID number in Google or on the FCC site may reveal the phones chipset.

You DO need drivers for your phone. It's best to search through the forum dedicated to the brand of your phone, and search that forum for threads on your specific model number that might list the driver links. You could aslo google for the phone brand's website, to see if they are available there. The last resort would be to use generic drivers available from Futuredials website. (google them)

Not a helluvah lot more than BitPim. They are like Coke & Pepsi. Some just prefer QPST over BitPim (of which I am one).

I can get my vx 7000 to connect in QPST using a usb cable. I can get into the directorys of the phone and see all of the files.

Whenever I try to write too or copy from the phone I get a message that says "Unknown Error" and the phone goes to no service.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No clue about the LG C2000, but if it uses a Qualcomm chipset, then probably.

On a wholly unrelated matter altogether, it seems rapidshare is doing some server maintenance until after 1/1/06, so if anyone was looking for anything hosted there, they ought to try waiting until then, or possibly visit other sites like groups for the time being.

Sorry to get off-topic there, I don't know what came over me....

Qualccommies are not going to give any1 a hard to about software piracy: They have been feeding off taxpayers for years. They did great stuff in the early going and are one of the soul/sole survivors of the start up IT enterprises.
I really do not think they have any concern that QPST is being randomly distroed.
So go ahead and use it if you can get it.

It writes to phone memory better than bitpim.

The best vehicle is a BartPE plugin with the ability to write to bluetooth, smartcard, and usb devices. But that code is not really distroed as of this writingl....
If some1 sends me a a USB cabale for the lg 8100, I will test and send you the .CAB file for your use. let me know if you are interested, PM me on this site ONLY.

I dont know if this has been posted but i dont think so. when using a vx8100 its a little different instead of placing file on dload/img place it in brew/16452/mp then go to dload and erase image.dat. im not sure if this is the correct way but it is the only way i can get it to work. iam using 2.7 build 91

Posted by: carbonize

OK it doesn't work with the P7200 but I think thats because the P7200 automatically switches to USB mode when plugged in so Windows just thinks it's a drive.

Essentially, any CDMA/Tri-mode phone SHOULD[SIZE=5][COLOR=DarkOrange] be using a Qualcomm chipset

Anyone been able to get the LG 6200 (Bell Mobility) to work with QPST or BitPim?

I bought a USB data cable from 3gcables, loaded the LG drivers, and Windows XP detects my phone OK.

QPST or BitPim do not see my phone.

I've searched through this thread and tried a number of things (setting the phone as an LG-VX4400, LG-VX5200 and Other CDMA phone, but nothing has worked so far.

In BitPim, COM3 is displayed in the Available Ports section as "LGE CDMA USB Modem", COM4 is displayed in the Ports not available section as "LGE CDMA USB Serial Port". Which of these ports is the one that is supposed to be used?

Any other ideas?

Problem solved. My Palm HotSync modem setting and the USB data cable were both fighting over COM4

Majgik, thats not all true i had the LG 4750 and on bitpim there is no selection for it so I just used another phone selection (lg 4650) and it found my phone and let me use everthing, phonebook, ringtone, wallpaper, etc.
So try selecting different phones and it may work. Also mess with the com port selection, I had to go change mine, Good Luck

Hi,
I am new to this forum and have recently picked up the awesome V from LG. I do have the data cable and am looking for this software to download mp3s and ringtones to the phone. I do have the 512mb mini sd already formatted in the phone and am looking for your advice as to the best way to utilize it.
thanks
Steve

However, a little digging solved the problem. The file /nvm/nvm_0000 contains the new code in plain ascii text. Nothing could be simpler.

Thanks alot, saved me some hair pulling, this is verified on the vx6200
