Mac User - How To Create and Upload Treo Ringtones

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Just got my Verizon Treo 600 (Used to have a 7135) and would like to know how the easiest way to create, upload, and manage ringtones on the Treo from my Mac.

Most of the the songs that I would use will come from MP3's that I already have.

Can anyone point me to a link or is there a procedure outlined somewhere?

Thanks!

The only way to use Mp3 files as ringers is via a third party application such as Lightwav. You will also need Pocket Tunes and an SD card.

Download a trial of Lightwav at www.toysoft.ca

Then I'd pick up a SD card reader and simply transfer your Mp3 files to the card that way.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Can I (or should I) convert the MP3 to MIDI? Would that make it easier to make them system sounds?

Amm, you can't really convert MP3 files to midi. MP3 files are songs with actual voices. Midi files are tone only, no voices.

OK, both programs (full versions) are installed and seem to be working correctly. Now I've emailed myself several .mid files (from Treobits) and have attemped to copy them to the card using Snappermail. It appears to copy but they're not showing up on the card, nor in Lightwave.

They do have a .mid extension and are small enough (8 - 20K)

What's missing? Or what should I be doing differently?

Thanks!

Where on the card are you saving them to?

I beleive the default folder on the card Lightwav looks for files needs to be called "AUDIO"
