I have two unlocked MPX200 smartphones and they work great with Tmobile, but I get "no service" when I put in my Cingular sim. I was told that Cingular may only use the 850 mhz band in the Atlanta area and thus the phone would not work. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, Cingular GSM in Atlanta is 850 band everywhere as far as I can tell. Only AT&T and T-mobile use the 1900 band as far that I know of(I am in Atlanta too). I'm afraid you are out of luck with the MPx200. A lot of people, including myself, are waiting for the MPx220, which will resolve this issue. Looking back, its really unbelievable to me that Motorola could get away with shipping the MPx200 only supporting 1800/1900 GSM band, especially when AT&T themselves started widespread adoption of the 850 band shortly after the release of this phone.
