I'm in the market to buy a new BlackBerry in the Milwaukee area for a high-traffic communications job, but I'm unsure which model/provider is best. I'd like to use it as a second phone as well, obviously. Suggestions?
Also, can I sync email with OS X Mail by downloading one of the third-party apps?
Thanks all.

If your looking for form factor the 72xx series seem to be popular, myself I don't mind the size so I purchased a 77xx device. There are pros and cons to all sevice provider once you get past that ask yourself do you travel allot? Out of state or international?
If you do you should consider a GSM/GPRS device eg. ATT, TMo or Cingular. Verizon offers excellent coverage but has a limited BB selection and has also been slow to adopt features. Nextel by far offers one of the best BB's but coverage I hear is spotty in some states limited in Canada and like Verizon North American coverage only.
As of now there is no conduit to sync with the Mac, though EPICAD is in final beta with their product SyncAgain which should address this matter. I run a Mac shop myself and I'm also waiting.

Are you only looking to sync email with OS X Mail ? Or, full sync w/iCal and address book ?
I run OS X and have my mail server automatically forward a copy of all messages to my AT&T blackberry's webmail account. You could also set up a rule in the Mac mail client to do the same (as long as your system's online).
The Epicad product looks good. However, I'm concerned about a few issues with it:
1. their prelim price is $189.
2. it will require a Blackberry Enterprise Server
3. it should have been released by now...

The mail is least of my concern, it's the iCal and Address book sync I'm looking for? I hear you about the price, seeing the Desktop Manager for the PC is free I think there shooting themselve in the foot.
I think the initial push will be to the BES environments but I though the last email I got stated pro-sumers will have the ability to sync with iCal and Address book?
Yes it should have been released by now but being in the software industry myself this is no small task to take on. There is no intellisync for the Mac as a connection/data transfer standard, there developing for a UNIX platform/OS which needs to communicate with a Java device.
No small task to say the least...
