Hey all, i got a Sharp GX32 and can't get the mp3s on my cpu onto my phone. i have a usb compatible cable and a handset manager CD. In the file manager from the program on the cd, i try to upload mp3s to the sound folder on my mobile, but it says size limited to 100 kb or something. So i dont know how i can use the mp3 player on my mobile. Theres no mp3 folder so im guessing trying to put songs into the sound folder was right?

i dunno i need help

suggest you load your mp3 songs into a sd/mmc card. one mp3 typically can be 3 to 4 mb so you won't be able to put them into the phone's memory anyway. i have a few mp3 files on my 128mb mmc card and they play fine.

how do i load mp3 songs into a sd/mmc card?? i got a 128mb one aswell, but how do i do it?

you would need a sd/mmc card reader on your pc (they're fairly cheap - around us$10 i think. just remove your mem card from your phone then put it into the card reader. on the pc the mem card would show up as another drive, where you can just drop and drag, or copy and paste your mp3 songs into the SOUND folder. then just put back the mem card into your phone. that's it.

i hope your pc is running windows 2000 or windows xp, otherwise you will need to install the driver for the card reader, although the card reader should come with its own driver CD.

suggest that when removing or placing the mem card into your phone, turn it off first to be on the safe side.

hope this helps.

ok thanks, that helped a lot

just a followup. I think the GX32 can only support MP3 files with up to 128k bitrate. this means you need to check the bitrate of your songs first and may have to do some conversion. I can also provide you with info on how to do this if you like.

One of the best audio editors around is Goldwave. You can use this nice proggy to modify the bitrate of mp3 files.

You can download a fully functional evaluation copy of Goldwave v5.08 from:

nice, thanks

anyway to copy it to the phone without having to buy a different card reader? Cos I'm not willing to splash out on extra money to use a card reader I'm hardly ever going to use a lot. :\

Nope, card readers are the only way to go so far.

i bought a card reader from ebay for £5 it works a treat and just bought a new 128mb card for £4

ebay is really cheap for things like that...i got my data cable from there but figured i still needed a card reader for mp3's etc etc
